Custom Crafted by Hotpoint dishwasher

We had this d/w in coppertone in a house we bought in 1986. Sold it with the house 4 1/2 years later, washed (ok) for family of 4+, no service calls.
One of my two best friends in high school had this same dishwasher in the early 1960s house they rented. The Caloric wall oven & cooktop were teh same ones as found in Laura Petries kitchen on the Dick Van Dyke Show.
Geez, for $10 you can't go wrong... LOL Shame there were no interior shots but I figure this has to be a mid-60s Hotpoint product with the "arm and tower" wash system.

My firend's dishwasher had no tower.

Just beautiful all teak cabinets and a double sub zero frig with these doors that I swear were a foot thick. Anyway, I digress, the kitchen had this dishwasher and I remember it had just the lower wash arm like the one pictured in the ad. I wanted to see if it ran but the real estate agent (a friend of mine) thought I better not in case it flooded the kitchen or something. I really wanted to start it.</span>
<span style="font-family: helvetica;">They had tiled the floor with these very thick floor tiles that looked like 1/2 thick bricks. They tiled in the toe kick all the way around the kitchen including the dishwasher so there is no way it was coming out without some kind of demo. It looked great but not good when a repair is needed. I'll never forget that house it was about 5K sq. ft. from what I recall and stunning. It was just too big for us at the time. Looking back I wish we would have bought it.</span>

That's a great looking machine! We had the 1967 coppertone version. It cleaned well. Most people today would complain that it was noisy. It had a large motor that looked like the GE washer motor of that era. That "jet" spray sounded very powerful! If I were more adventurous I would grab that!

Dishwashers that used a 1725 rpm motor instead of a 3450, ,to describe the sound , imagine a garbage disposal fighting a chainsaw, seriously ,you have to raise your voice to be heard over one, They do really wash well though, If this hadnt been 5 hours away i would have gotten it just for the different factor.

Hotpoint dishwasher
We had a 1972 Hotpoint portable Dishwasher with the power tower, fill port at the top of the tub. It had 3 cycles rinse only, wash only and wash and dry. We were on a pump with moderate water pressure. Since the DW only had a 90 second timed fill it did a horrible job washing dishes. Dishes were actually dirtier when they came out then when they went it. And noisy as HELL! I did an experiment and added water during the cycle. It then cleaned very well and quiet down a lot. It went to an early grave!!!
After that I bought my mother (and myself) a built-in 1975 Maytag I think model WU400 or 401. It had the white buttons and white timer knob. Now that dishwasher could clean hair off a dog!!! Longer timed fill and worked very good on our water pump.
It lasted almost 20 years!!!
