Hello All. Searching google for a fix on my Custom Imperial Electric Range. Mom, at 86 still cooks great meals on this range. Oven is cooking hot. She has figured out that if she sets dial abt 30-50 less than recipe, she can usually get good results. But she has to stay close to monitor the oven. It is starting to burn more (btw, It's not the cook as I have been here when this happens and she still has laser focus) I suspect a thermostat but I have read some similar threads on this forum and It appears these units can be more complicated then that. Any suggestions?

I have the 30" version of this range at home and I really like it.

Some replacement parts are getting hard to get for these but you should look at a few things first.

Which oven is too hot? The small one on the left or the self-cleaning one?

If you haven't already done it,  check the temperatures in both ovens with an oven thermometer to see of how many degrees it's off. These thermometers aren't 100% precise and it's normal for the temperature to fluctuate as the oven cycles on and off around the set bake temperature (when the oven light is on, the bake element is on and should glow red and the broil element has lower voltage and shouldn't turn red when the oven isn't set to broil or to the self-clean cycle).

The thermostat could be off and needing replacement but the right oven also uses a relay that could be defective.  I'm not too familiar with these as I am not a technician and never had to repair one of mine but I'm sure others on this site could help you more with that.

The service manual for 1971 Frigidaire ranges is available for download from this site, it does cover your model. It's the very last from the list in the link below.
