1957 Hotpoint economy cooktop with color coded burners. Still have to find the yellow insert for the yellow burner. Got a red one and has been applied since picture was taken. How simple and elegant.

seven times 4.0 inch tiles is 28 inches.
So is it 30 inches or 27 inches wide, I guess is a better question.

Thats just about identical to the stove my parents had in their house. Ours was coppertone, and from 1959. Probably a few houses left with that stove still!

We have this cooktop in yellow in the collection. I like Hotpoint's color coding of their surface units, in fact, I really like Hotpoint and General Electric ranges. Glad for all that have been securely tucked away in safe places of one sort or another.
Forgot to say that I think your pink is a nicer color than the yellow.

My parents bought a house in Pittsburgh in 1958 and that cooktop was in the house. Ours was stainless steel finish as was the Hotpoint wall oven. (Way ahead of its time.) The knobs on ours were different ...shorter and wider, but the burner configuration was the same. Memories! Yours looks terrific...great work!

What an awesome stove. Such a simple and elegant design.
The interesting thing is that it has rotary controls. Most of the GE and Hotpoint stoves, that I'm familiar with, from that era had push button controls. (Even though they were grease catches and weren't very flexible in terms of heat selections, GE and Hotpoint push button ranges and cooktops are my all time favorite stove design.

I just noticed something. Yours has one signal light. Ours has one for each surface unit located by the unit, not by the knob. That's one of the things that I don't like; the red on the yellow is ugly. I will have to check on that. If we have a duplicate, John might be willing to talk about a deal. Again, I will have to check.

That is in great condition! The knobs look simular to what we had on our Hotpoint oven...
I am still looking for a early 60's model with the button tower in the back center if you see any, let me know!

Scott, the lady that offered the Norge dryer to the club has the cooktop you want in pink. The kitchen was very original and they appreciated the pink appliances as true collectors' pieces. I don't know that they would ever pull them out. There is none of this foolishness about switching to gas because they like cooking with the cooktop and oven and the house has oil heat so there is no gas service to the house. They have two really neat dogs in their family and when they heard me talking in the kitchen, they came bounding through the doggie door to see who had come to visit them. We got through all of the wiggley conditions where the tail wags the dog and the kisses and the flopping down on the floor for rubs and the stepping in the (empty) food dishes, but no barking, just happy sounds, so you know that these are really great folks. I think that they will take very good care of these appliances and probably let us know if they plan to replace them.

Thanx for the info Tom. To Southern, I see these units on Fleebay from time to time. I use the keywords "hotpoint" or I use "cooktop" for my searches. 1960 was the first year for this type of cooktop and I even have a manual for this appliance. Good luck with the search.

Tom, you had me all excited there for a minute, ah well, at least they are appreciated. I think there WERE a lot of them here in this area, but more and more these HGTV type shows where people go into a house with appliances more than three months old are "dated" and need to be chucked to the curb are killing our chances to find them at a reasonable level. Good things come to those that wait, right!
I will have to do some digging for some pictures of the old pink Hotpoint kitchen we had.

Now, if the manufacturer had just moved the green and the yellow knobs back a little bit, (and wired this thing that way) wouldn't the suface-unit being controlled be intuitve?
