maytag washer..ORBITAL DRIVE...one drop of oil comes out from the center drive underneath the machine every time it goes into spin when the helix rises....should this be a concern? is it a simple fix? or will I need the special tool for the 200lb spring?

any ideas?

Uh-Oh, sounds like a lower o-ring seal leak. According to RCD, replacing the lower o-ring on the orbital transmission doesn't always guarantee a 100% fix (unlike the older tranny).

You don't need the impossible-to-find brake spring tool to remove the brake package, you only need the brake tool which is available at most appliance parts places.

......and the why the heck do orbitals seem much more susceptible to lower seal leaks anyway?

well i'll haveto think if i want to dig into this one...if it was a TOL machine i would consider it, but just a 2 cycle, 2 speed, 3 water level and temp option, regular capacity, so i might just clean it up and sell it. But I am impressed with the wash action of this orbital, maybe because of the smaller tub, but this really moves clothes compared to my DC set.
