My local Habitat resell store had a Kenmore Ultra Wash II for $40.00. It's in the back of the car as we speak. Seems complete and except for some hard water stains seems good. What/how should I hook it up to test? No access to hot water (outside). Should/can I use cold? Anything special I should look for/do?

Update: it's a model 665.1675590. Racks have some rust, I'm going to try some of the touch up paint. If anyone has racks they want to sell I'd be interested. The detergent door is intact but the spring appears to be out of place. The door latch works but the door doesn't pop open. I think the residue in every place is from liquid detergent. Dispenser was packed with it.

Part of the bottom rack needs to be scraped and recoated. I see a lot of members use something called POR (?) would that be appropriate for this use?
