Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Ingemar,

DeSoto Chemicals makes detergents for Sears.  They're located in Joliet Illinois.  At one time they also made Sears Weatherbeater paints.

Gosh....

We're using 4 at the moment:

Surf - it smells lovely and is OK at loads without heavy soiling (mine is pre reformulation. The updated one kicks butt).

OMO Alpine Fresh - Brilliant results but getting more heavily perfumed

Drive - Once THE premium brand in Oz, now in OMO's shadow. Still brilliant with the same/similar fragrance from childhood

BioZet - soft, long lasting fragrance and a great performer

I've also got a small stock of OMO from 1990 and a box or 2 of recently released and then removed from sale OMO Baby which smells like baby powder.

Method in the tall skinny pump bottle. Makes lugging everything to the dorm basement that much easier.

@ronhic

The Surf you use is a powder, I know simply because you have said in the past you never use a liquid, so does it have the HE symbol on the box or no? I remember seeing this on shelves before and maybe be able to get it here, I'm uncertain though I'd have to look.I do know it is made by Lever or Unilever (?) and use to be sold with sun products here in Canada.
Tks for your help.

Roscoe...

We can get it as either a powder or a liquid, but I buy powder.....

It really depends on which brand of product you buy if it has 'He' or 'Front Loader' on the box - both are ultimately the same. In the case of Lever's products in Oz, they use 'Front Loader' and sometimes a picture of the machine's porthole door. Previously, they all used to have 'matic' in the title - Surfmatic, OMOmatic, Drivematic.....

The usual suspects:  Gain HE powder, Tide Coldwater HE liquid, Wisk Stain Spectrum HE liquid, Foca powder, Ace powder, Fresh Start, Downy Fleur de Luna, Snuggle Blue Iris & Bamboo Silk.

I'm a big fan of Unilever washing detergents, and have been for a long time! I have:
2x bottles of Persil Bio Small and Mighty
3x bottles of Persil Colour Small and Mighty (love the smell of Persil liquid)
1x bottle of Surf Tropical Oasis Small and Mighty
1x huge bottle of Comfort Sunshiny Days Concentrate
(the reason why I don't have any powder or tablets is because my mum hates when powder sticks to our drawer)

well...

at the moment we are using omo multi active for handwash and twin tubs (we have 2 toploaders) i find it works betta than omo auto and it smells better too and is way cheaper. we even used omo handwash in our front loader. us south africans do it because its cheaper than an auto detergent and if u dose correctly u dont have sudslock.
i use Skip perfect white on whites and pick n pay green concentrate dilute stain remover spray.
here we dont have surf liquid. only surf handwash powder. its very good on whites if you think skip perfect white s a bit expensive. then we have sunlight handwash powder in spring sensations and tropical sensations (tropical works and smells way betta than spring) sunlight auto summer and paradise sensations (summer smells better). then we have skip regular, perfect white and perfect black and regular liquid. we also have omo auto liquid that smells very ice and wrks like a bomb but is super expensive. pmp, skip, surf and sunlight are the popular unilever brands. south africans love omo and sunlight.
another popular brand here is bio-classic because its very concentrated powder and fresh scent and helps keep machie clean. them we have the supermarket brands.
popuar softeners here are Sta-Soft (THEE most popular. reckitt benkiser), sunlight, and now comfort. we also have supermarket brands. sta spft is so popular we say sunlight sta soft or comfort sta soft, etc because that is THEE fabric conditioner
