I bought one of there last year, a good machine, but not very exciting. The agitator is a direct drive motor/belt with 1 second intervals, no transmission. Also, this unit has an electric pump and does NOT permit spin rinsing. If you try, the pump won't be able to keep up with the spinning water and you'll have a flood, aside from that it's good. Thing rates at like 10lbs of clothes, but the spin can only holds 6. From experience, it'll tackle a good size load including my suede/microfiber shower curtain a small wool-knit blanket. One nice thing about it, since it has a bottom mounted agitator, you can do any size load that you want. My only real quip with the Hoover and Maytag designs were that the pulsator(s) were mounted on the side, and while the wash action is great, you're limited to only one water level. Be prepared to disable the lid switch on the wash side if you want to watch it run, they come from the factory with a safety switch to prevent operation of even the wash side when a lid is raised. Also the pump is an independent entity and has it's own dial, it's a very quiet pump, and you can walk away with it on after the wash water has been drained, also don't drain the spinner and the wash side at the same time, the pump gets fussy. To be honest the damn pump setting took the most getting used to as I've never used an electric pump setup and it's weird on a twin tub machine for some reason to me. Good luck on getting one without shipping damage, the sheet metal is paper thin.

I have the older model with the separate lid on the wash tub
Wondered about the attached wash tub lid now I know
Also had to modify the overflow rinse system so it would overflow rinse the pressure switch was set too high
I`m going to have to make more videos of it

Hey Peter, I for one would be interested to see a video of the Danby. I enjoyed your Haier vids on YouTube, so please by all means!
Is that a video of a Danby DMW99 portable auto on your YouTube? Is that a direct drive or some odd transmission drive, it's a fast direction change. I've never seen one in action efore. How cool.

The machine is a little on the cheap feeling side, as a lot of newer items are. The machine is simple, which is a good thing, the agitator and spin can are belt drive, pump is electric. It's no Maytag A50 or Hoover, but I think it would hold up reasonably, it's built much better than the Haier units IMO.

New to the club and thought I'd jump in !
I recently purchased this machine from Target. Arrived with shipping damage as Macboy91s pointed out. (Also arrived earlier then stated, 3 days and not 10, luckily I was home as it was also left on the front door step) Thankfully the unit is very light and I was able to get it in and up the steps without any problems.
During my test spin I noticed that the spinner was not up to speed, so I took off the back panel and found the safety break needed to be adjusted. Not a big deal as there is an adjustment plate on the cable.
Mine has a belt drive on the wash side and a direct drive spinner, with the separate Pump in the center. You can move the discharge hose to either side of the unit. It has opening on either side of the cabinet and hose from pump is in the center of the machine.
Capacity is bigger than I thought it would be which works out great as i use it to prewash, soak, and or dye material before running it through my front loader.
So far I am really glad I got it. It's quiet, has a strong wash action and spins clothes quite dry. I am enjoying the HandsOn feel of laundry once again. Just wish I had more space so i could start a collection of washers.
