What you've got a hold of there is old stock. Contents have deteriorated and broken down hence all that "space".
As have said purchasing any sort of product from a discounter is iffy. On both sides of pond such places receive huge amount of inventory from things that didn't sell, past sell by date and or otherwise shifted from primary market.
P&G, Henkel, Unilever/Lever Bros, etc... all remove unsold products from shop shelves that are past or near sell buy date, or perhaps aren't doing well. You don't see such things in rubbish bins because stores cannot do so. Normally distributor takes things back and there are channels to funnel it elsewhere. Discounters purchase job lots of these things, mark them up and sell them on.
Good thing is it's P&G's famous "Alpine Fresh" which always gets my vote. It's one of more popular scents found in Ariel or Dash laundry detergents.
One thing about "expired" laundry products is their scent either has gone or started to go. Often there is barely a trace when product is used and or it doesn't last once washing is dry.
Purchased two containers of Ariel "Excel" gel in "Alpine Fresh" and didn't use up first one quickly so scent pretty much has gone. Second one sits unopened in one's stash but don't have hopes things will be any different.
