Dash Liquid Detergent Reintroduced

In my local supermarket, I found a new product with an respected old name on it....Dash Detergent. It is distributed by the same company that revived the old "Solo" brand name a few years back, Heritage Brands of Carlstadt, New Jersey.

It comes in "Bleach Alternative", "Fresh Scent", and "Lemon Scent" variants, and looks and smells like the same inexpensive, somewhat watery detergent that they used in the "Solo" relaunch.

I picked up a one-gallon bottle (3.78 liters) for $4.99, in the "Bleach Alternative" version. For that price, I'm skeptical about how well it will remove stains, but have been feeling nostalgic for the old "Dash" products lately!

wow..

where did you find it? did you see it in powder form? I would love some of the lemon scented Dash. I loved that back in the 80's when it was available.

It was at ShopRite.

No powder, only those three liquids.

The lemon liquid really didn't have much fragrance to it, but was transparent.....still can't hold a candle to the 80s P&G liquid, that was so gentle on colors, and fresh.

The supermarkets here carry virtually no powders anymore, except for Tide, and sometimes Arm and Hammer and Purex (I actually bought an box of Arm & Hammer With Softener powder, before they deep-six THAT brand's shelf space.

Top Job = Mr. Clean?

Top Job seems to be Heritage Brands' attempt to out-Mr. Clean Mr. Clean...

the Top Job I remember was that "brand-new, bright-green ammonia cleaner" introduced in 1963 to combat the Ajax "white tornado" phenomenon of 1961-62...

and I remember the jingle:

"Top Job, Top Job, so clean and bright and fast--
Top Job, Top Job, cleans walls like ammonia cleans glass!"

Also--since Solo was a detergent + fabric softener hybrid, I found it amusing that they now make separate products!

I used it on a medium-colored, lightly-soiled load tonight, with warm water, and it performed adequately. The only two impressions I was left with was that there is almost no discernible fragrance, and it was quite low-sudsing.

I'd put it on a par with the value-priced liquid "Sun", but lower than "Arm and Hammer Essentials", and higher than Church and Dwight's "Xtra" liquid, in terms of performance.

Have not seen this. We do have HE Arm & Hammer liquid in our area. I wonder if the Dash would be low sudsing in a front loader. The last incarnation of liquid Dash sure wasn't.

Incarnation was the word I was thinking of as well. That's nice that oxydolfan found "Dash" again. I also sometimes get nostalgic and start pining for classic old products. But, I've learned not to get my hopes up too high though because a lot of these new incarnations and reformulations ARE NOT THE SAME PRODUCT! Some of these new companies are just profiting from a lot of consumers sentimental attachment to vintage classic products.

It's not so great. I wish I wouldn't have bought it now.

Maybe I'll use the white bottle with the red "Dash" sticker as a retro planter for the windowsill or something!
