You should have seen the range that was here BEFORE this plain-Jane Frigidaire...

I believe the one before it may have been a Roper & it had a "Temp-trol" thermostatically-temperature-controlled burner on the Right-Front, as well as a window, oven light, console light, timer & clock & whatever Automatic Baking a '50's Gas Range could do, before more fully automatic "Start" & "Stop" became possible w/ gas...

Yes, this stove that replaced all that neat gadgetry is nowhere near as eye-poppingly good!

Hotpoint

Dave, that nice mid-late 50's Hotpoint was made long AFTER the General Electric Co. acquired Hotpoint. GE has owned them for about 90 years. This fridge was made when Hotpoint still had their own separate factory in Chicago, though. The manufacturing consolidation with GE brand products occured in the early 70's.

OK, that's right... I too much associated the Hotpoint brand w/ its factory in Chicago, before the 1970's consolodation...

Hence I recall the brand having its own identity, at least in the washer & dryer world, though the ranges & refrigerators, dishwashers, etc. resembled its counterparts by GE...

But that's right, the brand was a division of General Electric during this time--just that the washer & dryer line-up confused me, given that here I saw the machines less like the GE product, unlike how should view their other app's, until later on...
