Hi Gang: I'm a new owner of a HE Samsung washer and am unclear about whether the Daz, Persil or Ariel detergents from England or Australia are compatable to this USA machine. I feel that the packets should do fine, as they seems to be like the packet detergents sold in the US, but what about powders and liquids?

daz

99% of people in uk have front loaders so english daz, persil and ariel will be fine

aussie detergents will have he logo on it

Most Of The UK and EU Countries Have Water Much Harder

Than what one finds in most of the United States, this is reflected in the dosages.

For use on these shores one usually starts with half to one-third of the recommended amount and adjust up or down as results warrant. Other factors will affect this as well including load size and soil levels.

You want the rinses to be clear by the final one on your machine, but you also do not want to see "gunk" still coming off laundry.

Signs of excessive dosage especially with liquid or gel detergents will be too much froth and suds that do not rinse away easily.

Any Australian detergent

That is marked as either HE or Front Loader will be fine. However, some of them are known to be sudsy in very soft water.

Products made by Levers - Drive, Omo and Surf tend to me much less so than anything else, barely getting any bubbles at all even in the wash, with Drive and Omo the best at soil removal.

Harder water

While it is true that many parts of Europe have very hard water, many parts also have extremely soft water (like where I live). Detergent dosage recommendations take this into account and give doses for soft, medium and hard water.

I would suggest if anything you will need more than the recommended European dose for your water hardness, since American machines are so oversized. However, Considering they must be much more loosely loaded than a European machine, the load sizes (and therefore amount of detergent required) should work out about the same.

Other than that, yes it will work just fine in your machine.

OP states he has a Samsung "HE" washer, which could mean a front loading machine or top that uses less water than traditional vertical axis machines.

Have a cupboard and cases full of various detergents from Germany and France. In all cases even the dosage for "soft" water is too much for my New York State water supply (soft to very soft) and causes problems with rinsing.
