Skimpy rinses

Good washer, great dryer. My only problem with those washers is very inadequate rinses; 15 second spray rinse during the first spin and a 2 minute deep rinse in the regular cycle which, if you're familiar with Maytag agitation, doesn't necessarily mean you're going to get one complete rollover before it ends. You can opt for an Extra Rinse, or use the Permanent Press cycle, but why should you need to? I tried swapping the timer control with one from an A712; I increased the spray rinse to 1 full minute but all that extra water caused the tub to come to a complete stop during the spin. Wimpy motor and transmission.

One of things I love about my vintage Frigidaire 1-18 is that I get a 3-minute long spray rinse during the final period of the first spin, a five minute deep rinse and a short spray rinse in the final spin. Don't need an extra rinse with that machine.

I have to agree with Ken.....

and not just with Maytags......but what I do not understand, that there was one timer built for both capacity machines.....

an extra large capacity machine should have longer spin sprays, longer rinse periods, and extended spins.....

granted there usually is only 2 to 3 inch deeper tub for the larger load....but still for most machines they both got (10,12,14) minute washes....

but you have to take what they give you....thankful some are better than others..

totally agree on 1-18 rinsing bajaespuma

amazing how many suds the 1-18 can get rid of even after the first spray rinse. The deep rinse is sometimes clear even after a tub full of suds in the wash. Funny about the Maytag stopping with the longer rinse; the 1-18 just keeps going!!

That's the fast, short stroke agitation.  I watched my mom's several times.  It managed to turn over the load rather quickly in those two minutes.  She had sensitive skin and never complained about rinsing issues.
