Hi Everyone:
I'm on vacation in Sri Lanka. As always, I have to make a stop at local grocery stores and supermarkets to check out their offerings of laundry and other products.

I saw many varieties of P&G products (Tide with Jasmine and Rose scent) and a fair number of Unilever products. The product labeling here is very explicit in describing if it is a "front loading" type product or one intended for hand wash and why the types are not equivalent. I picked up a box of Surf Excel to take home.

I did not see a single example of automatic dishwasher detergent. Only handwashing liquid.

Interestingly, on landing in Colombo, there were many home stores at the airport selling washing machines and other appliances. I looked but then hit duty free to purchase some alcohol.

Interesting, keep us posted. The splat logo shows up everywhere!

I'm guessing that the up-front labeling for "top loader" or "front loader" is similar to what they do in the Australian market. Very sensible.

Different store ... Detergent Aisle

Was near a different, larger store today and ran in to check the detergent aisle. Lots of Surf Excel varieties, Tide and one type of Persil.

One product was named "White Power" and several others touted "White Power" as one of their benefits. An amusing product name that wouldn't do well in the North American and other markets.

Interesting that both this store and the other had few liquid detergents and limited selections of softeners.

The splat logo tends to be used on Levers premium products and in conjunction with their 'Dirt is good' campaign. Here it's used on OMO, but not on Surf which is their 3rd tier detergent after OMO Ultimate/OMO, Drive and then Surf.
