Here is my stash

Powders - Ariel Colour 25 wash,(Aldi) Almat Bio Stainlift 30 wash, Daz Mandarin and Lime Splash 10 wash

Gels/Liquid - (Aldi) Almat Bio gel 18 wash, Bold 2in1 Gel Crystal Rain 16 wash, ASDA delicate liquid

Conditioners - (Aldi) Anco So Soft Ocean Breeze and Comfort Tropical.

My Daily Drivers are the Ariel Colour Powder as most of my wardrobe is coloured, and it stops the fading. Have used the Almat powder on my whites and its pretty good but everything seems to come out quite hard and itchy dispite using conditioner with it. I may give the almat to my parents (they use anything) or just use it for towels.

I like the Almat Gel but I find the scent can be a bit too strong so I try not to put too much in.

Love the Blue Bold 2in1 gel with So Soft Ocean Breeze - its a nice combo, but I only put half a cap of so soft in, to give the load a bit more freshness.

When I'm running low on detergent, I may purchase some Bold 2in1 Crystal Rain Powder, which i haven't used in a while, and has a nice scent, which I can use in small doses providing its rinsed out well.

a once-brand snob converted to Discounter Detergent

Interesting.  I use Almat as my daily driver (and swear by it - it will be my next powder purchase once I've whittled down the 65 wash box of Formil bio, 72 wash box of Ariel bio and 50 washes of yellow Surf... - all that I've bought on offers which have equated to approx 10p per wash), for £3 for 30 washes you really cannot beat it in my opinion.  Cleans as well as the big brands and have even been commented on my whites several times :-).  Interesting that you find it leaves laundry hard - I'm using Ancosoft in conjunction with it at the moment and find that Almat rinses out cleanly, and doesn't leave laundry noticably harder than the big brands.  Ariel colour powder on teh other hand I have found to be very foamy - I have the Ariel colour gel at the moment which is very good again at rinsing out and cleaning, then after that I have a box of Almat colour powder to use.

Only downside with Almat is that it does leave a residue in the drawer - however I get around this by dispensing in the drum in a liquid dispenser.  A small compromise seeming as it is only £3 a box.

Kyle, Bold is on offer in Tesco atm, if you use it in combination with the super savvy me vouchers you can get the 25 wash gels for just over £2.50 - I managed to get 4 bottles this way (it lets you print out each coupon up to 4 times).

I have some formil gel which another member off here gave to me as a housewarming present, and whilst I haven't used it on heavy soiled loads

Interesting that you still have a complaint regarding product smells; do you use the default or extra rinses out of curiosity?  I don't have much issues at all with product smells.

All the best

Jon

PS. Just a word of advice; I have found sticking to the 10p or less wash rule to work quite well when buying detergent or dishwasher tabs

I use extra rinse as standard on the Indesit which is 3 deep rinses. Last time I used Bold Powder, my skin got a burning sensation whenever I put any item of clothing on, and it looked like I had nettle rash. The Almat is great, I only really use it on plain white items to be honest, towels and teatowels, and bedsheets. Anything white or light with a colourful design on it, gets Ariel Colour.

I love the Bold Gels, the infusions are my favourite, love the white diamond one and the ruby Jasmine one. I would have printed off the super savvy me vouchers but I dont have a printer unfortunately.

And yeah, I do have an issue with some product smells, I dont like products that are too heavy on the fragrance side. Some are just completely OTT.

Here are my current detergents for September 2012.

Powders:

Ariel Bio 10 wash box, almost empty (This cleans very very well, but the scent overpowers the fabric softener all the time, even with an extra rinse.)
Daz 38 wash box, almost empty (I really like this, it has a nice soapy smell and it cleans whites and coloureds well)

Tablets:
Formil Bio tablets 18 wash box x2 (I like the scent of these, haven't used them yet so cannot comment on the wash performance)
Formil Colour tablets 18 wash box x2 (These smell very similar to the Formil Bio tabs. These don't dissolve very well in the drawer so I'm going to use one of those Persil tablet nets. The cleaning is extremely good and it is better than Daz even without bleach)

Liquids:

Daz Summer Flower Power liquid (The scent is very nice and it cleans well)
Sainsburys Basics liquid (Doesn't have a scent and is not powerful enough to remove stains, don't waste your money on this!)

Liquitabs:

Daz Mandarin and Lime Splash liquitabs (The scent is lovely, but the dosing instructions are wrong, I didn't get good results with 1 liquitab)

I'm starting to become a Formil convert and I'm going to try Almat when the Formil runs out and compare the two!
