Detergent test results, new issue of Consumer Reports

#1, Tide with Bleach powder, #2 Tide cold water, #3 Tide HE, which was better than the other two in brightning.. but a little less at keeping dirt off. 4th. was Kirkland Signature Ultra, ( Costco brand ) and following up with Tide with a touch of Bounty and Tide with Bleach Alternative. Below those but rated best buys for half the price of the above was Great Value Ultra Mountain Fresh from Wal-Mart and Ultra Plus with Fabric Softener HE from Sears.

Dirt can’t hide from Intensified Tide

Hi Scott,
I am not surprised that Tide performs best, in the UK P&G's premier detergent is Ariel and it is number one at cleaning according to our consumer magazine Which Magazine, and I totally agree.
P&G used to market Tide in the UK but sadly it has not been available for almost 20 years now.

TIDE

Hi there...I was raised on Tide. Tide in the wash, of course but also Tide in a bucket of water to wash floors, Tide in the sink for dishes, etc. Back in the 1950's, my mother used Tide for everything. Then sta-puf and nu-soft came out as the first fabric softeners.

I wonder why they didn't do Gain this time. I have been using it for a while, because I learned that another year it scored almost identically to Tide. I like the scent and it does do a great job, and I'd say it's a good alternative especially to someone on a budget, as it's often priced less than Tide, wonderful product it of course is.

Scott, i agree with you about the Gain detergent. I like the cleaning ability of this detergent and the scent to me is more pleasant than Tide, though i like them both. Cost wise the Gain wins hands down.
