Persil And Lenor Every Time

Mine are Persil biological Powder and Persil Colour Care Powder followed by Lenor Summer breeze

For me liquids just do not clean as well as a powdered detergent I need clean clothes (for the profession I’m in) first time with out re-washing

I've always found for bio detergents Persil or Ariel more or less equally the best, but for colour products until recently I always thought Ariel Colour was the only one out there that gave good results. However in the last month or so we've been using Sainsbury's colour powder - just finished a box of it and now using the colour tablets and have to say it's a fantastic product bearing in mind it costs half the price of Ariel. It's better than Persil Colour anyway, especially more than their outdated tablets which STILL require that damn net!

Softener wise, I've always chopped and change but I've used own brand softeners before and again for half the price they smell and perfom just as good. Using Sainsbury's Cleanhome softener at the moment (their own version of Ecover), and it's a nice product - no fragrance (clothes just smell clean), and softens beautifully without all those awful chemicals that are normally found in softeners. Got a bottle of Ecover to use next, which is another firm favourite of mine.

My favorites

Tide original scent powder (eventhough the original scent from the 50's is not what we smell today) and Final Touch.

From the 50's would be Rinso Blue and Nu soft
60's Vim and Downy

I liked Rain Barrel fabric softner but that is no longer made.

For me

Persil Biological Liquid gel - daily driver

Ariel non bio for whites

woolite for wools

and pink / yellow / blue lenor :)

My current combination is working quite well for me:

+ Ariel Biological powder for whites
+ Ariel Colour and style powder for coloureds
+ Lidl's own (Adritt) Dark Care liquid for darks
+ Bold crushed silk and jasmine liquid/liquitabs or Ariel with febreze liquid ( I've got both on the go at the moment) for bedding
+ Woolite for wool
+ Also got a bottle of Asda's "tiny but tough" for my other half in case his skin flares up.

Softener is at the moment Lenor with Febreze which is nice (but only now and again) and the other day I bought a bottle of the new orange Comfort which is on offer in Asda for a quid a bottle but I've yet to try it.

My favorite powdered detergent would be
#1 Sears Ultra Plus with Oxi Clean
#2 Tide with Bleach

Favorite softener
Gain, orginal scent

I also like the Amway Bio Quest but it is way to expensive

My favorite detergents:

1. SA8 With Bioquest (from Quixtar/Amway)
2. Persil (Brit/Unilever); powdered; bio version
3. Ariel (Mexican P&G); powdered

My favorite fabric softeners:

1. SA8 Fabric Softener (Signature scent; from Quixtar/Amway)
2. Downy (Mexican; non-concentrated version)
3. Suavitel (Mexican; version in yellow bottle)

It depends...

For whites, I use a Miele set to 160F or 170F, and regulare scented Persil. I have not found it necessary to add fabric softener for this.

For colors, I generally use Sears Ultra Plus HE, with 33% STPP added. I dilute Downy 50% with water, and add about an ounce of that to the dispenser. I wash these in the Maytag Neptune 7500 at 105F for most shirts and 130F for most pants.

For bath towels, in the Neptune at 130F, I either use a mild liquid like Safeway Select Free/Clear HE, with no softener, or just plain STPP with a dash of concentrated surfactant NP-9, and with a very small amount of diluted Downy.

For heavily soiled work clothes, which often have machine coolant with foam supressant splashed on them, I do a pre-wash with 2 oz of Sears HE/STPP, followed by a long wash at 130F with more of same. Sometimes I find I have to add extra NP-9 to get a very thin layer of suds. The pre-wash is really a special warm (85F) rinse/spin cycle in the Neptune, since the standard Neptune pre-wash doesn't drain and I do want to get rid of the machine coolant before the main wash at 130F.

I have tried a lot of other different detergents and even grated natural soap, but I usually come back to the above products and formulations. The natural soap plus STPP actually works pretty well on things like bath towels, as long as sudsing is carefully monitored, and I might try that again in the near future.

Hasn't Sainsbury

Always had quite good house brands? When I am in the UK, I have always found their household range quite satisfactory and much cheaper than the Henkel products.
My German friends will disagree, but I find AS products work nearly as well as Persil and cost 1/4 as much. Just use a bit more and still save loads.
I still refuse to use fabric softener, anionic, cationic or plain old grease. Not my thing.

Ours...

We use

- ARIEL POWDER for whites
- ARIEL LIQUID COLOR for coloureds
- PERWOLL LIQUID for woollens, silks and delicates
- TIDE (rest) for Laura's (dog) blankets and cushions
- DOWNY/LENOR (rest) for synthetics
- OXY CLEAN (oxygen bleach) for whites and stains
- AZÚL (spanish blueing) for super white whites
- RALF'S STAIN-REMOVER SOAP for grimey/dirty areas on garments
- DAN CLORIX (chlorine bleach) for stubborn stains on whites

Wackey Packages

Unimatic,I haven't seen those since the early 70's.I had "Duzn't Do Nothin'",Liptorn Molten Lava Soup"and "Crust Toothpaste".----I use liquid Gain with Bleach as well as Gain liquid fabric softner of the same original scent.

P&G

Love their products. Ariel and Lenor is all I use at home. Powder for whites and liquid for colors. I'm always amazed at how easily their liquid detergent rinses, while powder often leaves a certain cloudiness even in the final rinse water. Have bought Persil (Henkel) liquid for colors but found its smell way overpowering - the bottle was cute, tough. I really like the Lenor Summer Breeze scent, as well as Antarctica and Sahara from their Mystery Collection.

Here in the UK, I'm currently using Comfort Crème Sweet Almond scent and Ariel with Febreze Effect - like them both.

I only wish one could buy like "Try Me" bottles of fabric softener so you don't buy something and realize you don't like the smell of it after all.

My Favourite Detergents

-----Wash Powders-----

DynamoMatic Powder (great scent plus great cleaning)

DriveMatic Powder (nice chemical scent and great cleaning)

OmoMatic Sensitive (i hate the scent of regular Omo but this has no scent so is great, it cleans flawlessly)

If i were using a top loader i would use the t/l version of these products. I would also use the liquid version of Dynamo more.

----- Fabric Softners------

Fluffy- Summer Breeze scent (mixes with the scent of Drive nicely)

Cuddly Lavender- I love the scent of lavender

Purity Sensitive (a low scent f/s which provides a gentle scent which is divine)

Thats about it really, of course i try different products but these are the ones i have in heavy rotation on my laundry shelf.

Matt

I will post pictures of these products later on
