I just called the Dexter Co. in Fairfield,Iowa to see if they may have some parts for my Twin-Dex from 1949. Alas, all of that was thrown out a few years ago. Oh well, any suggestions would be of help. Thanks,Gary

I would contact appliance parts stores. Ask if they have any leads on Dexter or Philco parts. If not, ask if they know any repair people who ever worked on Dexter or Philco wringer washers. If you can get their names, you could talk to them. You could also go through the appliance repair listings in your phone book and then check the yellow pages in near-by towns to try to find old repair businesses. If your library has old phone directories, you could look through the yellow pages to see if any appliance repair business ad from 20 or 30 years ago mentions Dexter or Philco. Depending on the parts you need, you might check through all of the old stuff any time you are in old hardware stores. Hardware stores often sold appliances. Don't be afraid to ask long time proprieters of hardware and farm supply stores if they knew of anyone in the area who worked on the Dexter or Philco wringer washers. As you know, Dexter was close to Philco before Philco consumed them so if you can find Philco parts or service leads, that might help. Many wringer machines of that age used parts that sometimes can be fabricated out of more common stuff if you know how to put it together. You can also look at an issue of Appliance Service News. They have a classified ad section. If you don't see anyone offering the old parts for the brand you need, subscribe and place an ad stating what you want; that way you can cover the whole country in your search. Often retired service people read this publication to stay in touch and might be able to help you. That's how we got our first set of Frigidaire service manuals. Best of luck. Tom

I am not sure if they're still there but in Baltimore,there used to be a company named Philchek Appliance that worked souly on Philco,Dexter and Nutone appliances.
