What a great blast from the past. I remember serving Di Dors with champagne in the hotel I worked at in Bristol in 1982. She was SO glamorous - she didn't walk in a room she kind of floated and I never forget how quiet the room went when she came in. She was every inch a star.

BTW, I didn't know until recently but Wally Stott is now Angela Morley!

Hey thanks Hoovermatic!! I bought Damon Wise's bio "Come By Sunday The Fabulous Ruined Life of Diana Dors" from the Bookworm Bookshop in Surrey about six years ago. I read that about Wally Stott, and Ms. Angela Morley (internet info) is enjoying a wonderful composing and conducting career. I have her '60 album on Columbia "Swingin' Dors" and two of her paperbacks "A to Z Of Men" and "For Adults Only". She had it going on before Monroe. Thanks for the story!

Dors was a great . . .

and I love her version of this song. BTW, another classic blonde bombshell, Mamie van Doren, also was a decent singer and worth checking out.

I knew Mamie was still around (actually I met her briefly years ago), but I had NO IDEA that she had such an hysterical blog on her website . . . I would caution that the Republicans among us should avoid the blog as she obviously dislikes Bush, but I don't care for him either so I laughed my tail off!
