Did finish discontinue the orange gel?

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Anybody know what detergent gets coffee and tea stains out? I've got three flavors of Cascade complete.

Powder, liquid and pacs. I find the gel is almost useless and the pacs while ok tend to froth up and make the pump cavitate.

I thought the powder would be the best of that lot but not really. Are Finish products better in dealing with staining in coffee cups ?

Thanks Pat

Since returning back to PowerClean based dishwashers (a KUDC23 and KUDS25) I too have had issues with coffee stains.
I found that (at least with my local water) Finish Quantum pacs worked the best, when combined with another powder detergent in the prewash, and using Sani-Rinse on KUDS25.
Before that I was using Finish box powder which worked excellently. But then the same year, they discontinued it!
It was only found at this large Russian international grocery store by me. Then they switched entirely to Cascade brand.
I've been trying to get away from plastics so I'm not buying the bleach gel bottles, nor the PVA pacs anymore.
I've been having pretty good luck with Seventh Generation box powder in the pre and main wash cups, while giving all my coffee/tea cups a quick swish with water before loading or letting them sit.

I have the current GE portable that is out now. Unfortunately it has no prewash but a loooong Prerinse.

My cups seem to come out best with the pods which I'm surprised because I've always been a powder user.

If I do use Auto Sense, I have the option of boasting the wash water or using the sanitize function, but you can't choose both at the same time.

If I do use temp boost on the autosense it ups the time to 122 minutes from 90.

I think sanitize just makes the final rinse water really hot

When I had my Whirlpool power clean portable I always used the temp boost.

I think I'm just going to
have to start doing that with this machine. 2 hours isn't too bad.

My Whirlpool in the normal cycle ran nearly as long from start of wash till end of dry

I was brought up in a family that used the cascade complete gel before after the removal of phosphates and since I’ve been living on my own I’ve never had a problem with it not removing coffee or other stains in my Powerclean. Honestly I see no difference in cleaning capabilities compared to other detergents but I will say it does leave some spotting here and there and that’s when rinse aid is used, if I was to use any of the cascade pacs I would have zero spotting but I find that the scent of the pacs stick too much to my plasticware.

Yea the powder was discontinued years ago I really liked it way back when. The finish gel detergent I was going to get off Amazon is actually not fresh detergent it’s from 2016 as the bottles in the recent reviews say 2016 on the back like all cleaning products will, they usually have a year on the back side that tells you the general year frame it was made like I have a cascade complete bottle now for example that I bought a few weeks ago and it says P&G 2024. Anyway these reviews are ridiculously awful, rightfully so because they are selling old dishwasher gel that doesn’t work anymore. Finish has it listed on their website still so I have no clue where to get some fresh stuff at, they don’t sell it here where I live. That’s some of the only chlorinated detergent I can find online that is still made since cascade original gel was discontinued. They used to have a new line of Finish gel about seven years ago called the MAX all in 1 gel and was available in multiple scents and wow was that stuff good, probably better than the cascade complete never left any spotting behind but then they discontinued that too. They also stopped selling those Finish dishwasher fresheners that I loved many years ago, around the time the jet dry baskets were taken off the market! They do still sell them in other countries but not here anymore, I can order some online but they are quite overpriced.
