I've always loved diner-style dishes and mine were purchased at restaurant supply stores 15-20 years ago. I have four mugs, but they aren't Buffalo China; they're thinner. Everything pictured below (except the round dinner plate) says either Buffalo China, Inc; Buffalo with a 4-digit number and a letter; or simply has a photo of the iconic Buffalo with a copyright sign on the back of the dish. The dishes on the left have green stripes.

I ordered a set of four Buffalo coffee cups and saucers from Williams-Sonoma a few days ago. The cups were listed as 8-ounces, which I interpreted as "able to hold 8-ozs. of coffee comfortably." But no. I let the Keurig default to 8-ounces and the cup filled to the brim. Two more drops and it would have overflowed. So I experimented with the 6-oz. setting. Got a wonderfully strong brew, which was nice with Krispy Kreme, Dunkin' Donuts, and VanHoutte Vanilla Hazelnut Decaf K-cups. Still, for many of the extra bold / dark roasts, I prefer the 8-oz. size using the 'strong' setting.

So, back to Amazon. The Buffalo China mugs hold only 7-ozs. but have the thick lip I'm looking for. Settled on an authentic-looking 10-oz. mug (which I'm guessing means it holds 8-ozs. comfortably) from Funny Guys. User reviews were positive.

Are there any other fans of diner / Buffalo China dishes in the AW family? I enjoy eating cafeteria style with each side dish in a little bowl or on a plate of its own. I put it all on a cafeteria tray and eat in the family room in front of the TV with a cat on each side of me. That image can be interpreted as charming or pathetic, depending on one's viewpoint, LOL.[this post was last edited: 1/25/2016-22:48]

Hi Eugene.

WOW...

Those bring back some memories.  The Green Border Stripe were very popular in the New Jersey Diner circuit when I was young.  So well made, I bet there still are a few diners that use this pattern.

Now I will have to check whole sale/ restaurant suppliers to see if this is still available  I would also keep my eye out for the restaurant auctions.  Some times you can buy plates for like a buck a piece.

I have several pieces of Green Band dinnerware, but I think the only one that is genuine Buffalo is a dinner plate. I do have a small bowl that was made by Niagara Ceramics, the company that took over the old Buffalo factory. The remaining pieces are all Homer Laughlin.

Buffalo China is now a brand of Oneida/Anchor Hocking (owned by EveryWare Inc.), and to the best of my knowledge, has been an imported product since 2004 or so. Niagara Ceramics operated the factory making many of the same products from 2004 through sometime in 2013, when it stopped production due to a lack of profitability.

I can't tell the difference between the Buffalo, Niagara, and the HL without looking at the back of the piece. The HL is made in Newell, WV. They have mugs that look like what you want. The Mug 300 is 8 3/4 oz., and the Jumbo Mug is 13 oz.

There is a china and glass outlet in Logan, OH (Midwest Glassware) that has tons of restaurant china, including many pieces (all new) from Sterling and other companies that are no longer in production.

My vote is "charming." Especially if the cats actually let you eat... My mother's last cat actually sometimes begged like a dog. Then there was my bird who was once loose when I was eating popcorn. She came over, leaped up onto the edge of the bowl, and grabbed a piece of popcorn.

These days, I live totally alone. My meals are usually eaten out of a bowl with a spoon. I even use a spoon for some things that would be more logically used with a fork. And right now I have one spoon and one bowl in active service, which get washed after each meal.

Instead of TV, it's the Internet.

Had a mostly full set of the green banded diner ware.  Nice stuff but it's smallish sizes put some off.

Terry and I used it for a dinner one night, plates, bowls and monkey sides for peas.  After several grumblings and perplexed reactions, Terry turned to me at dinner and wispered "I think peas taste better in a bowl all by themselves, don't you?"  I did - we had a great time with our diner dishes, even it was just the two of us.
