Afternoon all,
I can’t believe I have finally got one of my all time favourite vintage washers, it has sheer class, defined styling and is immaculate new condition.

Introducing the new Candy Bi-Matic of 1959

I came by this machine from a friend who lives in Italy, the owner was given it in part-payment for some work that was carried out, however the machine stood totally unused in a garage for nearly 60 years!!

I had the machine shipped from Teramo in Italy to the U.K - it took a few weeks to get here and arrived yesterday to my partner’s house in London.

It comes complete with instruction / registration paperwork, filler hose, Candy laundry tongs...and the machine is in perfect condition.

I know these machines hold mixed opinions with some members on here, but the styling is fantastic. In the day this would have been financially out of reach of most people’s budget..it still has the price tag on it of 91,000 lire !!

Here are some pics of me unwrapping the machine.

I will hopefully upload a vid in the next few days.

Cheers Keith (keymatic)

So, what are the mixed opinions? I never read opinions about this machine, but does it have to do with the short stroke?

I was wondering, does the Bi-Matic have a spin-rinse option? I can't remember seeing such on Youtube. With or without, this machine must get the price for best designed twintub. But then again 1959 was a good year. lol

Was the Bi-matic ever imported and sold in the UK?

Nice machine, by the way. For a 1950's machine it actually looks quite 'space age'.

Hi Mike,
I do like the green agi, the 4 vanes are slightly twisted at the ends to makes the movement even stronger, the twinline hose is like the Servis hose, this one is weird in the sense its square, or should i say both of them are square. I will take a pic the weekend when im back in London.
Cheers
Keith

Hi Louis,
I did read a few opinons on here before i posted my latest find and some said the sharp / short wash action wasnt to their liking and Italians weren’t very sucessful in the agitator washer market.
I just think its quite different.
With reference to the rinse facility, there is a small jet in the spinner to spray the load, i will update when i get the machine going :)
Cheers
Keith
