Chicken and farfalle Florentine (spinach and mushrooms) in a light cream sauce with romano cheese. A side of marinated grape tomatoes and a nice apple crumble for dessert! What did you have?

Sorry, no pics, but my 8-year-old is learning about making yeast breads.

Today was classic white bread - only 6 ingredients. And she knows how "the yeastes" work to make the dough "poofy". And how they get poofy again in the bread pans. And how its kind of gross how the yeastes eat the sugar and make gas.

And she knows that we don't grow wheat, which is what it takes to make flour...

Maybe next week we will make corn bread and she can learn about how double-acting baking powder and eggs can substitute for the "yeastes" that we put into the wheat flour...

Yesterday

I went on a cooking binge and made lasagna and peach crisp. Garlic toast and a light salad rounded things out.

Yesterday I made lasagna florentine with mushrooms, bread pudding, and broccoli.   Tonight it's pasta with bechmele (white sauce) as well as tomato sauce (reminds me of Toggle's baked pasta at wash-ins) with cheese and baked to nice brown.
