Although I'm proud to be a washers lover I don't recomend other than not let your young babies play in front the washing machine... And here I'm spechless how's the father to lead the poor little Will to make VVRVRVRVRVRVRVVR....
As it has not been an happy life for me as a washers lover I wish it wont'be the same for nothing else... hard to say for me but is like that, sorry mates.

I am sorry, but I don't see the harm here

The boy was not in any danger and he was having fun with his dad. What could be better than that? I thought it was cute.

What better way to introduce a youngster to the joys of machinery in general and washers specifically?

Me thinks the big safety issue is, that machine has that vibrating inner mechanism that is exposed. glad he did not get his little fingers mashed.

yeah, as this machine has a seperate tub, unlike normal washers as they have rubber seal thats connected to door rim, this is whole unit seperate. Same as my dyson washer.

That's why we have locks on both doors inner and outer!

Guess I'm a big dummy, but what's the big deal? The machine was running and the kid was enjoying it. I didn't see any impending danger.

My daughter had colic and spent many hours on top the Maytag Automatic Burping machine. As long as the adult was close buy, as I always was no big whoop.

My parents must've been awful ;)

I'm sure they weren't, and let you play with all manner of "dangerous" things... SAME AS MINE!!!!

But, this is a different time, and parents aren't always 'responsible' for their kids. It's never their fault! If something had happened to us in the same situation, our parents would probably have chalked it up to stupidity (on either our part or theirs). My mother (GRHS) would probably have said something like, "I won't be letting you play around like that again," or, "Bet you won't do that again!" Today, the first thing the parents turn to is the yellow pages "lawyer" section when something goes wrong. There are some exceptions to this, but I'll bet it's more the rule!

Louis and Chuck aren't too cautious. Watch this old Lavamat AEG. To make this vid he bypassed the safety switch on the drop down door. Normally it can't be opened while spinning.
Never realized why Asko made some model without outer door

Anyway children often walk without shoes ... I'd never rely that much on earthing and safety power switches...

Yeah, my dad should have been thrown in jail in 1986 for showing a 7 year old how to bypass the lid switch on the A-490.

I have that type of washing machine. There are soft protection strips inside so that your fingers are never cut off by a metal edge. Furthermore, the machine doesn't even attempt to spin when there is too much unbalance. I wouldn't worry too much.

He could have been like me and ran his arm through a Maytag wringer. I used to clothespin to bypass the lid switch on our Whirlpool. The only bad thing that happened was my glasses fell of during the spin and came out pretty mangled, but I was a little older than him.
