When it comes to disco

I let my 1968 Maggie do the talking

Well Laundress

What can I say. This particular disco club was usually full of drunken sailors from neighboring ships that just arrived in Norfolk. You are so right about those Northern neighbors like NY. If you live in a artsy city like NY, you know there are going to be some men what can dance their asses off! Oh and a good dance-choreographer like Martha Graham might help too.

Recycled Disco . . .

Aunt Barbara, Tupperware consultant extraordinaire, has recycled Chic's Le Freak, always one of my favorite disco songs. Petek will undoubtedly note some great shots of a lighted dance floor.

anyone here remember Betty Wright???

'Sinderella. where's your fella? You can do better! Won't somebody tell her!
Sinderella. Where's your fella? You can do better won't somebody tell her!

You tell her!
You tell her!
You tell her!

Where is your prince??
Girl won't you use some common sense!
You know the slipper won't fit.
And you're makin' a mess of it!

Dreamin' those imposible dreams!
You think that they're real,
but, they're not what they seam!

Great song and fun lyrics too!! I'd hear the beat begin and go apeshit running to go out and let go!However, I knew who and where my fella was!!! and my glass slippers fit me to the tee!!LOL

Too Many to choose from

I spent most of my life working in or visiting dance clubs and it would be impossible to compile a list of say 10 favourites, but i will say that virtually every record listed so far is brilliant

Here is one i always liked (but never understood the lyrics)

heres another

sorry you got me going now

Savage Lover by The Ring............yeeeeahhhh good times at Heaven when i were a lad :-)

Sharon Redd

I remember her song "In the Name of love" and had no idea, until earlier today that she died of A.I.D.S. back in the 90's. When I saw it along with the song one of her sons wrote and sang at her funeral, I broke down and cried my eyes out. Disco was my way of releasing the daily stress I experienced at work and home and would take me places I'll never forget. I'd warm up out there around 9PM and,by 10PM,the floor would be packed. I'd wind up jumping up onto the huge speakers as to not harm anyone who'd dare to get near me as I would spin, jump, whirl and twirl (ask John La Fever in Beltsville,MD,he's my witness!LOL)and wear my "Daizy dukes",no shirt,Rebocks,a light up ear ring that had a floating bulb that would make it light up in tune with my dance movements,a Swatch and different colored bandannas.I'd stay up there until last call.

How did we get through this thread without a little KC and Sunshine band?

Multitalented brass section with some slick moves!

An early, not so well known tune by this band. This one deserved more airtime than it received.

GRRRRR! PLEASE HELP (if you can)!

In March, my computer picked up a virus that even Avira (my anti-virus software) couldn't even eradicate. I had to reformat my hard drive and lost EVERYTHING (music, documents, videos, pictures, etc.)! My saving grace was that I had some songs on my Walkman that I was able to put back on the computer, but not a lot of them.

There are a few songs that I've been able to download before (about 1 1/2 to 2 years ago) through either Limewire or Shareaza, but in doing a search on them now, they are nowhere to be found.

The songs are:

Cruisin the Streets...Boys Town Gang
That's Alright...Fleetwood Mac "Mirage" album
Gimme Some Lovin...Kongas "Africanism" album

There is one more that I'm looking for that's from a 2007-2008. I don't know if anyone has heard of the singer Azis from Bulgaria (he's part drag queen, but not your everyday run of the mill type), and was a contestant for the Bulgarian version of "Big Brother". He put out a song that I REALLY like (No Kazvam Ti Stiga). I'm attaching a link to the video on You Tube (Robert, if for some reason you find this video inappropriate, then please delete this post), but I'll tell you what...IT IS HOT (at least in my opinion)!

If anyone can help with the search of these mp3's, I'd GREATLY appreciate it. Thanks!

red light lover

is one of those old disco songs i can't seam to find on youtube

"gonna be a red light lover, under cover,a red light lover tonight"are all I remember but what a great song for those of us who really were "red light lovers'

"You Make Me Feel Good"

JK had this out and I'd be running from one side of the dance floor to the other then hopping up onto a huge speaker to whirl, twirl ,jump and WOOHOO!! Great song fabulous lyrics!!

"You make me feel good! You're my medicine.you make me feel good. It's alright!"

"Reach"

There was another great song out called "Reach" by (I think) named either Susan or Kim Cheeks??

Reach for a shiny new tomorrow.
Reach for a better day a better day
Reach for something higher,something brighter.
Reach for the love. Oh reach for the love

There were different versions of this song but,the original one was the one that I remember better than the newer one.I have tried unsuccessfully to find it on "You Tube"

Any ideas?? Oh GadgetGary,Remember this song??? Ever heard of it???All I know is there were two different female artists who sang this. I think Ms. Cheaks was second. Her version is not as fast a beat as the one they played originaly. The DJ at the Hippo in Baltimore,Md,Chuck Parsons, prefered playing the second one out that was a bit slower than the original. However,he would make a point of playing the original a couple hors later knowing it was my favorite and would get me spinning.I called there a few months ago to ask if he was still spinning and he has retired and lives out on MD's Eastern Shore.

I just have to.....
