I was doing some web software development research last week and happened to stumble across a programming blog where the writer gave me an idea of how to essentially keep the file name of each thread the same (no matter how many replies) and yet mark thread back to unread status on the index page and turn it back from purple to blue whenever its replied to. This change will allow us to post or email links directly to threads now without suds-locking when the thread is replied to later.
So in plain English any active thread (active means it hasn't moved into the archives yet) that has been created or updated after noon today you will be able to copy the address of the thread and paste it on a website, in an email, etc and when the recipient clicks on the link it will go right to that thread even after its been replied to. No more suds-locking on old links that you might have posted (unless of course its old and has moved into the archives).
The way to tell if its been updated since noon today is if there is "?" in the address then yes its should work, such as:
if it looks like this:
than it is still in the old format yet and will not work yet but once its replied to it will convert to the new naming format.
So there.
