Public figures and political interest groups are fair game for derision. It's part of the territory and environment in which they choose to function. It's also a big reason we all choose to live in this particular country in spite of its currently broken and divided system.

There have been no personal attacks on other members in the thread you find so offensive. In contrast, this thread contains thinly veiled ones by two members right off the top.

The referred to thread has been very civil, no person has called another person a name. Public groups are fair game, no one says I have to show ANY respect to a party I abhor regardless of which party it is. I have no issue if the OP calls democrats dummycarts, some times it is true, just as republicans can be repubithugs because that can be true too. If theses little issues bothers you I hope you live in a well insulated cocoon.
