Hello every body!!!!
Today I am off my island, went in Athens, Greece for some shopping and I bought tow packets of detergent, Finish Quantum, 60 tabs 14,99€ and Fairy Platinum, 48 tabs, 12,60€ .

I wonder how much they would cost in your countries...???

Do you think those are reasonable prices?

In Australia

I usually buy fairy for $9:99 for the platinum 48 tablets and the same price for the normal orignal fairy tablets 60 tablets-I think .

I have bought the "big" classic tablets for $15 ( 80 tablets maybe)

But I don't like the finish tablets - they foam up to much in my. Aeg but the Fairy tablets don't as much, this w the other way round in my miele g562 fairy foamed up soooo much but finish didn't!!

Any way my five cents !

Cascade 20ct is about $3.99 here, same for 20ct Finish Powerball. (Walmart & Target Prices)

I myself, use stockpiled Cascade Complete with Phosphates, as I hate the new formulations without them.

Cascade Gel & Powder 75oz is $3.99

Finish Gel & Powder 75oz is $3.67

Hope that Helps :)

I buy the Finish Quantum tabs at Walmart (Canada) and they're usually priced around $18 or $19 for a 72 count box. However 2 weeks ago they were roll backed to $15.99. A box lasts us for months.
The price you're paying is pretty much the same as most stores around here charge

I don't actually buy either

However, I do use the more expensive of the Aldi powders or their cheaper tablets.

That comes in at $3.99 for a kilogram of powder which seems to last about 2 1/2 months. Tablets are dearer at about $3.99 for 40.

I'll add my post from the Bosch thread too: (I've mentioned before) that we purchase the 1.5kg box of Finish 2x Concentrate Powder, which DOES contain 10-30% Phosphates (MSDS Sheet) and lasts us roughly 90 washes with our DishDrawer (or more, if we run a Rinse program then a Wash program, saving detergent and time).

This bottle costs us around $18, whereas 20 Quantum tabs costs about the same. This is why we switched to powder straight away after our trial sample of Finish Quantum was exhausted, as the powder works just as good for 1/5 of the price of tablets. It also doesn't foam up as much. Tablets are great in Hard-Water, where the higher concentrations of detergent, rinse-aid and Phosphates help, but some of their features, such as "Salt," "Rinse-Aid" and "Tea-Stain Removal" are just gimmicks that most detergents take care of anyway (aside from the Rinse-Aid function. Not all powders have this, and the ones that do have stained our DD's filters).

I do have a stash of Fairy Tablets (Not Platinum, the other one, with the Yellow gel and powder), which costs me a bit, but is really useful for greasy, grimy loads in the DD. They even smell like Finish Dishwasher cleaner, so I use those when the machine starts getting really dirty (every 2-3 months). Depending on the soil, they WILL froth up quite badly and can cause rinsing head-aches (Best use is on Heavy or Delicates, with Three rinses), but lower temperatures do seem to help somewhat. These tablets ALSO contain >30% Phosphates, as indicated on the label

At Target discount store:

Finish Quantum tabs: 25 tabs for $6

Cascade Platinum tabs: 23 tabs for $7.

Prices are higher for each in the regular supermarket but the Finish products generally cost less than the P&G.

This week I am using Finish Dw Powder which costs $4.99 for 2 pounds 11 ounces(I guess about 2.1k). It is cleaning just as well as the tabs, but of course doesn't have any type of spotting/drying agent in it.

@Jerrod. Finish Powder (american, phosphate free) is a very weak detergent.

For years(Finish) called Electrasol produced nothing but, weak, Chlorine Detergent with a 3-4 Phosphorus, while Cascade was producing an Enzyme Powder with 7 percent Phosphorus.

Now, they produce a sorta weak, but functional powder, with 40% Washing Soda (weak, but functioning water softener) and a combination of 10% Sodium Percarbonate (Oxygen Bleach action, for Coffee Mugs, and Tea Stains), and 1% Enzyme. Basically, it'll dissolve through a little bit of Food, but, it's not going to pull of a Miracle like A lasagna Pan..

But.. What's intresting is, a Company called "Huish Chemical" out of Utah, is producing a really, good store (private label brand) Powder for Walgreens,Walmart,Target,Kmart, and a bunch of other stores I'm too lazy to list..

Anyway, there formulation, is Washing Soda + Sodium Citrate, so, you basically get the power of Washing Soda, and Lemon Juice Salt (very similar to LemiShine, however, unlike Lemishine, This salt doesn't kill the Enzymes. But, not only does it have a better water softener, it has almost double the formulation of Enzymes, and it also has the added benefit of Oxygen Bleach (Tubberware Sparkling Agent :P)

The only thing, horrible, is there private label knockoff Cascade Pacs. They have a blue film cover on them, instead of the liquid Cascade uses, and this film can slowly discolor your plastic ware, and dishwasher tub..

Obviously though, If you like the Powder, I suggest sticking with it, as it works good for you. However, if your looking for something a little bit better, maybe you'll like my advice :)

Thanks for your reply. I am one of those that alternates Dw detergents every week, so Finish powder is in my rotation. I used it last week with no problems for everyday loads, but I did not wash a lasagna pan. I have washed baked on cheese casserole pans but for those I will usually use a Miele tab or Finish quantum. Next time I will try the Cascade Platinum and see how that performs on the pan.

The current box of Finish powder lists the different products, powder, gel, 3n1 quantum tabs and their rated efficiency with different types of loads so I understand what you are saying.

I think know about Huish aren't they the company that makes Sears detergent? Next time I am in Target I will look for their store brand and give it a try although I can't say I have ever seen it in the store but maybe I don't know what it is named.

About your Cascade order: $49 for 8 boxes of 85 oz powder sounds good to me. I would just add it to your existing detergent stash.

"Up & Up" (Sounds Uppity & Expensive, imo) is Target's house brand. It's $2.79 for 75oz of there Powder, and I think it's about the same price for Great Value Powder.
