Hi Guys,

The simpson Fluid drive I found, has a rubber port on the back at when not perrished, goes through the back panel, so in case of an overfill the water runs out the back and away from the electricals.

On my machine the port is perrished and now cracked, so until I can replace it / work around it, I cant use it. Otherwise, testing over the weekend confirms it works perfectly :)

Parts are NLA for these machines and have been for a while, But parts for the old Speed Queen machines may still be available.

Also, I'm curious about how the machine keeps the water in the outer tub, I'm assuming there is a boot involved? Are there bearings as well?

Can anyone advise, whether the solid tub speed queens have the overflow port pictured? and can anyone show me an example of what the tub boot/bearings look like underneath?

Thanks

Nathan

I do not remember my '68 standard capacity tub having such a port----however I know the large capacity solid-tub models did.It was located so overflow would drop down clear of the motor------in case of water valve failure?

SQ Parts in the US

I had a look on repair clinic yesterday, however most parts seem to be for the current model machines.

Does anyone have a link to an online retailer that sells older SQ parts?

I'd just like to know what I'm looking for before I start calling SQ to try and track down parts.

Thanks

Nathan

Hi Nat

It's worth trawling around (or at least phoning around) some spare parts dealers asking for the Simpson part. These machines are old I know but some NOS parts are still kicking around. I can't remember where or what but I have seen Simpson fluid drive parts listed on an Aussie spare parts website. I will give it some thought and have a look myself. These machines were very well thought of in the trade, I remember one lady I knew in the 80s who had one, her repairman told her never to get rid of it, just keep getting it fixed as needed. So it is likely that some older repairmen will have a stash of spare parts.
You might have some luck with commercial machine parts suppliers too, as more Speed Queens were sold here as commercial machines than for domestic use. There was a place in Richmond, Vic which was the Vic agent for Speed Queen commercial spares, I got parts there once for a SQ Marathon I was repairing and they had a chaotic spare parts area, could have been anything there, certainly lots of old stuff. I used to live nearby but I haven't been there for ages.
Actually I just looked up the Melbourne yellow pages, there is no listing there any more but there is Speed Queen Equipment Sales, in Preston (not far away) their phone number is 03 9495 1300. It may be the same company at a new address??

Good Luck.

Chris.

Thanks Chris & Steve

I emailed All fix yesterday.

We have a reasonabley helpfull speed queen dealer up here, I just wanted to make sure it was on both machines before I started chasing them.

I'll try and call Speed Queen today and see if they can help.

Thanks

Nathan
