I have mixed matched pair of sp-x8700 mfgd. 1979 and sp-x8900 mfgd. 1981 and a matching pair of sp-z99 speaker mfgd. 1985. The sp-z99 is an ultra rare find, but they badass and yes!, they have a powerbass control on them along with a sound balance control as well.

i have a vid of my vintage 1985 sansui sp-z99 speaker down below.

Saw a pair of smaller Sansui speakers at a yard sale along with an early solid state Sansui intergrated amp-passed them-early SS amps are more difficult to restore-repair than tube ones. And the sound quality of early SS amps sucks. The seller was asking too much besides.Forget what model the sansui speakers were.I used to have a Sansui AM-FM tuner-sold it years ago.Was a nice unit-just didn't use it anymore.Modified its AM tuner to have wider audio bandwidth.

I have a "hybrid" sansui amp. It has vacuum tube finals, but the preamplifier stages, and the tuner are all solid state. One of my neighbors gave it to me years ago when I was about 14 years old. That amplifier was a favorite of everyone in college...it would blow the roof off of the college dorm with a set of Cerwinn-Vega 12 inch speakers connected to it.

The Legendary SP-2500

I do believe this is the model that represents the apex of Sansui's speaker building excellence.

My brother brought 4 of these back with a large quadraphonic set from a military tour in the early mid 70's.

These days, I use 4 of 'em driven with a JVC super-A Stereo amplifier and they sound fantastic.

I bet these speakers sell for possibly up to 4 times that opening bid. I'll keep my eye on that just to see what the market allows for a pair of these in what appear to be nearly like new condition.

Mine are SP-X9

Pix has been posted before, and it was taken for the juke, not the speakers.

I bought these in 1982.

Bass speakers are 17 inch cones, and they bang! There are 7 speakers per cabinet.

I very well remember back in 1985 when my car was broken into and my prized JBL 6x10's, yes, they were technically 6x10's instead of 6x9's but anyways they along with m y Sherwood amp and tape deck were ripped off. I was low on funds and replaced the JBL's with 6x9 Sansui speakers. Don't recall what deck and amp I went back with but hey those speakers could hold thier own. My choice for home listening is Marantz.
