Profile 4 cycle DW from 2011 have a mechanical timer control board? I swear I hear clicks between drain and fills, etc. Unless it is the water heater energizing via some switch on the board. I mostly use the anti-bacterial cycle with added heat. It has an l.e.d. cycle time remaining readout Model# is PDW7880R801SS. Thks.in advance. The control board warranty was 5 years on this machine. Still works great, no repairs.

Without actually seeing these boards, seems many are going back to relays (click click) from triacs which do not handle transients particularly well. Inductive loads (motors, valves, solenoids) can kick back peak voltages in excess of the RMS supply voltage. Even heaters and lamps can be troublesome, because their cold (turn-on) resistance is very low. My thru-wall aircon (PTAC) has relays on all loads, even double-sequential relays on 240V.

This goes somewhat against the trend of deliberately designing control boards such that they are prone to failure, and charging WELL in excess of their value for out-warranty replacements. One wonders if the spreadsheet jockeys have done a turnaround and determined that reputation DOES matter. As in, if your Whirltag eats 5 boards in 2 years, your inclination as a customer is likely away from buying another Whirltag.

Thank's Rick! Glenn, correct model # is: PDW7880R10SS

I should have writtne it down the first time. I also often trnaspose numbers, letters, etc. See? Slightly dislexic here.
Good to know about ecb voltage kickbacks.
I've heard of others calling GE directly for a part, and were told their model number never exhisted. It was a control board for an all electric calrod self clean slide in range. He was able to get one, and have a tech retro splice it into the harness, as it was a later version part.
