There is a great website listed below!

Start at your local Salvation Army, Goodwill, or other thrift store. Check out used appliance stores, behind new appliance stores, backyards, alley's, scrapyards, etc. They're out there, and usually not hard to find.

You're not the first person to come on this site and ask that question. The answer is, no one has any vintage machines to sell. Vintage automatic washers are extremlely rare and one has to be constantly on the look out for them. No one is simply going to give you a machine (unless you're lucky), not to mention the work that goes into keeping the running.

When I first found this site, I got so discouraged when I saw others' amazing collections, feeling like I could never find stuff like that. But with CONSTANT VIGILENCE you can find them, and <font size=20>GOD WHAT A RUSH WHEN YOU DO</font size=20>

Try all the Craigslists for all of Southern California. Eventually something will show up. And yes, inevitably the machine you want shows up after you're out of room, money, and patience from your family!

I have the same problem in my area-checked with all the swap shops here and they sent the oldies to the crusher.All they get is newer machines now.no basements here as well-so the oldies don't get pushed aside when a new machine comes.the oldie goes to the krusher instead.the Salvation Army and Goodwill no longer operate stores here anymore-all they do is collect and then only certain items.another factor the neighborhoods aren't that "old" here.That is why its also hard to find old vacuums and small appliances .I have seen dryers at yard sales-but not "oldie" ones.no washers.The Lowes and HD don't like people poking around in the back-so--the oldies that get traded in go right to the krusher or the pick up mans home-or he tries to sell them to the swap shops I visit as above.

They're out there, ya just gotta know where to search.

Yesterday, at one appliance store I buy trade in's, there was a mid 60's Hotpoint gas dryer. Lighted console, beautiful shape. I could have it for $10.00. It's still there.....

I placed an ad on Craigslist a while back, looking for round top refrigerators. Picked up two, and learned of about five more.

With scrap prices down from where they were this summer, more vintage ones will pop up that don't get scrapped. Get creative!
