Some great pics of other lovely old machines!
Tomturbomatic, very true words indeed! I'm glad I'm not the only one to have had similar experiences with the press!
It all came about as the result of my sending an email to my local radio station, doing a feature on old household appliances. I mentioned about my old dryer. I knew there would be other appliances much older than mine, dating back even further than the 50s, but I thought they'd appreciate my story in anycase.
I wasn't expecting anything more than my email to be read out, but next thing I knew, a newsagency were wanting to do a piece on my dryer, and then the local TV station got in contact!
Despite my mentioning to the TV guy that the story in the papers was not accurate, he was still keen to come over and do a piece.
Nearly three hours later, the guy left with his piece!
Although I'd hoped the TV report would be more accurate, it was no surprise that my story of how I came about the Parnall got edited from the interview, and the story followed the theme of the papers.
I was pleased that at least the Parnall name got some publicity, and that some of my other old items, such as my old Sony TV, Kenwood mixer and telephone briefly got in on the action (all of a couple of minutes or so in total)!
Keith, I'm really pleased you managed to see the piece, and I'm glad you enjoyed it! Never did I think my old tumbledryer would give me a couple of minutes of 'fame'!Lol
Here is a pic of the TV guy, with his eqipment.
