Does anyone here live in a dome home or what do you think about them?

As I was a kid I loved them and wanted to live in one. Joseph Yacoboni, who invented the Yaca-Dome lived just south of me here in Florida, and there are several of them around. They are pre-fabricated umbrella like homes that were built in the 1970s. In the 1980s he came out with a wood framed version and there are a few of those around here too, they were built up until the early 2000s.

We also have a few of the geodesic domes around, I think one company built a few here back in the 1980s and 90s.

From my understanding, the geodesic domes are popular out in the west, in Oregon and Washington state as well as Montana. I think there are some out in the desert areas of Arizona, etc too. Oregon Dome is one company that builds these. They sell kits that contain metal plates that the 2x4 or 2x6 boards bolt to which makes the framework of the dome.

I've also heard of Monolithic Domes, which builds concrete domes which are made of concrete poured over an inflated form and reinforced with steel rebar. I believe there are a few on the Florida coasts.

Down the street from me there are two wooden homes which are multi-sided, sort of like an octagon but more sides, maybe decagon? These aren't domes though, they have peaked shingle roofs instead, sort of like a gazebo. I was told they were built by Native Americans, but not sure. There seems to be a company called Del-Tec homes out of North Carolina that builds these. Not sure if they built those though. They are from the 1970s.

There are a couple geodesic-roofed homes here, maybe others of which I'm not aware.  One built in 1965.  It's small and set on a small lot behind another house.  I always thought it was a guest-house for that one until I was told that it's a separate residence.

The other was built in 1984, is larger with a traditional-style wing on one side.
