Don Knotts, the saucer-eyed, scarecrow-thin comic actor best known for his roles as the high-strung small-town deputy Barney Fife on the 1960s CBS series "The Andy Griffith Show" and the leisure-suit-clad landlord Ralph Furley on ABC's '70s sitcom "Three's Company," has died. He was 81.

Well, I guess I'm at that age; all my childhood TV heroes are dying. I loved Don Knotts. In fact, he and Andy Griffith are the reason I always, ALWAYS say 'Hey!' instead of 'Hi!' as an informal greeting. God bless the hyper little obsessive.

My personal favorite "Knotts'" role was that in "The Incredible Mr. Limpet." He made a good fish. Long live his memories.

The man was just a great

entertainer and person.

My friend Rob and I always do the "nose crinkle and mouth twitch" whenever we are bragging and play acting. Funny, we both did it when we became friends years ago, and found out of course we were doing Don Knotts!

RIP Mr. Knotts. (I saw Ghost and Mr. Chicken when I was 4 at a drive in with my parents and it scared me!)

Funny, funny guy

Just loved him as Barney Fife. The bumbling, proud deputy. A role he made his own. Especially liked the episode of "The Andy Griffith Show" where he constantly bragged about having his girlfriend (I believe her name was Thelma Lou) in his hip pocket. He kept saying it. Really driving it into the ground!!! I thought that was sooo funny. He was also great as the clueless Mr. Furley. He will be missed.

Don Knotts

As you may know, Don Knotts was from Morgantown, WV. I live near Charleston, WV. A cousin of his lives four houses up the street from me, and looks just like him.......
