20 years ago when I was in middle school everyone was saying s--- and f---, and everything else in between.

I'm not physically or mentally handicapped but I was "different" because of a birth defect. And I was picked on DAILY. I had a horribly low self-esteem. Fighting back, puhleeze. I was short, weak and skinny. I didn't have the hand-eye coordination to actually try to fight. BUT I had a good set of legs so I could haul ass if I needed to.

So, yeah, that's why I like those "perfect world" school films where everyone is polite and respectful, it would've been a nice change from the toilet of a school I was going to.

Phil rules! He's the very model that we all should go by.

I have two little cousins that come close. I've never seen nicer boys. They must go to the same school that Phil went to.

frigilux ... you're right; Class of 1977 does rule AND since most of us were born in 1959/1960, we are the end of the "Baby Boomers".

David ... I had that same "buzz" cut through most of elementary school. We went from the buzz to the butch haircut (it was a wee bit longer) and then we were allowed to let our hair get down to our ears!! My Dad was pretty strict about that.

I also agree with the comments about respect. I've watched some teenagers with their parents and the filth that comes out of their mouths! I would have had my mouth washed out with soap after it had been "slapped" and probably would have been grounded, too.

On the other hand, there is a high school freshman boy in my neighborhood who is now cutting my grass every week. He is well behaved and grateful for earning $10 per lawn. He does 5 lawns and is highly responsible about it all. He's turning 15 soon and will go through Driver's Ed. His parents tell me he is trying hard in school, helps with his sister (has Downs Syndrome) and likes to go hunting in the fall. He's forcing himself to save money from his lawn jobs so he can do things at school and with hunting. He's a good boy.

Good heavens ... I feel old all of a sudden!!

I, unfortunately am in Generation X (yuk) but at least I'm old enough to remember the 70s and what things were like back then.

Back then, everybody had a record player.

As recently as the early 1980's Pacific Telephone screened
videos that were not much more sophisticated than the

Great movies

I am a teacher and today is the last day of school for the summer! Oh my, have things changed since the 50's. I love the classroom. Ginn reader out oh his desk, The Palmer Method alphabet above the blackboard and the teacher in a dress! I was in school when this movie was made and sure does bring back memories. Today, no teachers in dresses. No more Ginn readers like that one and no more Palmer Method either. Lunch room manners? Oh please! lol Oh, don't forget what the kids were wearing. I love it! No blue jeans and shirts with printing on them? What was that? Girls in dresses or skirts. We're thrilled to death if we can get them to cover up without being sent home for too skimpy and outfit. I have one more year to go and I am retired! Things sure have changed since the 50's. Now go wash your hands and comb your hair for lunch. Bye. Gary

Ooooooh he was nasty...mean....and overpriced. Did I mention he was nasty? Nasty dirty icky. What a waste of my gas and time. Well, not really...coming back to Houston, I found a Farberware Perc. for 2 bucks, and a Fiesta Ware plate for a quarter.
He wanted $35 for a short turquoise Maytag agitator. The inside of IT looked as nasty as him....it was beyond gross.
I'm replacing "going postal" with going Mr. Bungle from now on.
