Ahhh, thank you Louis butane makes a lot more sense then for the force of the explosion. Makes me wonder about regular Bic lighters?

Opening the dryer a number of years ago, which was a Maytag Neptune, what do my eyes see is a Bic lighter sitting on top of the finished load of clothes. Very surprised to see it, but no explosion and the lighter still worked. Have left them in the car during summer in sunlight and no explosion, granted the flame was a lot higher when lighting it. They must have done some tests themselves to see what extremes they can be put through first, so to minimize lawsuits.

Very lucky man.  As others have said, the real reason for this may never be known. I've seen this same video with multiple descriptions. The first one I remember seeing stated a can of Axe body spray was left in the dryer. The issue here is that people will find a video clip and try to monetize it by making the most sensational title they can.  The attached image shows the same video with wildly differing descriptions. Welcome to the current state of the Internet.

@maytag85 I second what you said and I've still missed things before. I had to clean the drain filter of my modern washing machine and twice already found quarters and screws etc. Second time within less than 3 years as of having it from new since 2007.
I recommend checking the various plumbing areas once a year or so. I personally don't take chances.

Definitely want to make sure there’s no coins or metal objects in anything that has pockets that you are going to put into a Maytag HOH electric dryer unless you want to replace shorted heating elements when they fall onto the heating element (usually only happens when the inner felt seal is nonexistent). However, it’s not as big of a deal on the gas HOH dryers since coins and metal objects will just fall into the shroud and will set there until it’s time for a cleaning and lubrication of the main drum bearing.
