My KDS-16 wiring within the door panel has some green goo seeping out of the terminal ends. This is mostly at the top of the door for the lights and selector buttons. No surprise due to the moisture. I read about what this is caused by. The majority said replace the wires, but a few said cleaning it off would be sufficient.

Has anyone else experienced this? Couldn’t just clip the ends off and put a new terminal on?

Thank you!

im not sure what causes that either. i have seen it too and always just cleaned it up. i have read it can be caused by a loose connection.

Green goo on wire terminals

This is something I’ve seen on older wiring it’s the insulation breaking down a bit. The green is corroded copper.

It won’t hurt a thing. I wouldn’t worry about it just inspect carefully and see if you see any wire terminals that are actually overheating and burning unlikely, but then repair otherwise I would leave it alone. You’ll only make it worse, unless you’re extremely skilled at rewiring things. And I don’t see anything to be gained if it’s still working properly.
