WOW!

Congragulations! They look pretty damn nice. I'm pretty unfamiliar with these style of vintage Frigidaires... year? are they a "pulsmatic?" or "rollermatic" or whatever ever other kind of atic (lol)... and maybe some more pics?

rinsed and spun out sooooooo dry!!

"that many items are ready to iron"

Ya right, we will put it into the Filtrator Dryer to finish the job.... We do not iron in this house. Ain't got that kind of time.... <:

Empty tub shot

And this is the only tub shot I have for now. (still on 35mm camera) So please don't mind Mookies big azz hand.

The tub looks unlike any I have seen in the 1957 models. Kind of a bluish colour. Wonder if it had been replaced at one time?

.

Well, as one might guess, I am running out of room to display these treasures as they should be. They look better in person this way, however it is hard to get a camera angle to shoot these. They are located at the bottom of the basement stairs, and are between the furnace and the wall to the rec room. At some point, I hope to have these side by side. Until then, this will have to do. <:

Nice!

Is that washer Minty Green? How Cool is that? those control Tower washers are really neat would love to have a set someday

Glamour shot

Or therabouts....

The washer came from Colorado. Greg Nunn and Gregm went together out to get them. The washer belonged to the old dude that collects wringer washers. Cannot recall his name.. Lee Handly??? Or something like that.

Robert (Unimatic1140) rescued the dryer from the farm in South Dakota. There are a few pixs of it in the "Farm Pixs" section. He rewired it and I do not know what all else, but he did his usual magic and brought this baby back to life! All I did was plug it in. And that is the truth!

.

I repaired the motor start switch in the washer, replaced the power cord, and replaced the water valve with a Maytag thermatic valve. The valve works just as the original did, with all the temp. choices of the original. Greg and Greg had already replaced the hoses.

I LOVE these machines! The dryer is fantastic! Does such a nice job of drying, without overdrying. Leaves a nice clean smell in the basement, and some heat as well. The dryer does not need to be vented outside, and the water is collected in the tray in the centre of the front grill. It pulls out to empty.

I have had this set for a year, come Easter Sunday. I call them the "Easta Special" because of the mint green and pink being Easter colours. Also because Gregm brought them to me on Easter weekend of 2007.

I did not have the wiring for the dryer hooked up until a couple of weeks ago, and that is why the pixs were not posted until now. (2007 was just not a great year for us around here)

Enjoy!

Rick, that is one beautiful machine. I love the green!! What a fun set to have. You are so right, that filtrator sure leaves a great smell in the basement and the clothes.

Minty green and peppermint pink with envy

Those are beautiful machines! It's amazing that no one has used them(that I know of) in a movie or a TV show. If Austin Powers had a home laundry room, they'd be naturals.

I had the washer years ago.Our Lady kenmore combo had taken a shit(actualy,my dumb dad moved it without loosening the ballance system lock and screwed it up big time.So bad that Charly, our Sears tech who knows the combos inside and out, cussed him out for not following the directions which tell you all about the lock.Anyway, one of our neighbors had bought a new Duracrest set in coppertone and had the Imperial "tower" washer out on the curb.I took it home and the only thing wrong with it was the fan blades above the motor which cool it off as the washer is operating were bent and scraping across the motor making a loud metalic scraping noise.i bent them carefully with a pair of plyers and the noise stoped.I hooked it up with a "y" hose and did laundry in it on the patio for months during summer break.I would hang the load outside and they'd dry in no time.My grandmother lived with us and talked my dad into keeping that as a spare and she used it and set the combo for dry only which sped up the process and made it different but lots of fun.I had us using "All tempa Cheer"which at that time was still in it's original scent.I had the 3 Ring Agitator with bleach and fabric softner dispensers in it and would use the original Final Touch fabric softner. The clothes even smelled clean!

Congratulations Rick! What a beautiful combination of colors.
These are a coveted dream set by many of us. You sure have had
good luck in finding some beautiful machines and especially sets.

Patrick

Thank you guys! I never thought that I would ever be able to own some of the machines that I have, let alone something as cool as these 57 Frigidaires are. The only problem of having so many "sets", is that they take up twice the space. Again, that is why these cannot be set up side by side as they should be. (well, guess I could get rid of the furnace....lol!!!)

This set does show that "Mix and Match" has it's advantages. The pink and green look great together. Sometimes too much of one colour spoils the look. I always thought these two machines belonged together, way before I owned them. In fact it was my idea to put them together in the first place.

Wow! Congrats!

Beautiful set, Rick. I love the color of the washer....rare find indeed. Sherwood Green, I think...or was it Seafoam Green? I had a 55 Filtrator in that shade for a while, before it went to live with Eddie in Vancouver, Canada.

Ugh...

Those are simply divine!

Gotta love those control towers! And I've heard nothing but wonderful things about those Filtrator dryers!!

Thanks for sharing them!

Eye Candy

Hey Rick - again, you are the king of sets. Simply beautiful - love the Sherwood Green with the pink - they go great together.

Here is a glamour shot of the WI-57 - taken back in the summer of 2006 when Greg make the trek out to pick up the Frigidaire.

Isn't that pretty, they both look so fun together! Love the Sherwood Green and Pink as a set. That Pink Filtrator was my very first Filtrator dryer and I totally loved it! I'm glad you have it now Rick along with that BEAUTIFUL washer. The dryer took forever to restore because it had sat outside on the farm for almost 25 years, good thing for Frigidaire porcelain. The whole thing had to come completely apart and every last wire needed to be replaced. But it then dried like it was brand new.

The washer tub looks very dark for a 1957 tub, I wonder if they were running low on gray that day? lol.

There so beautiful and alluring--almost sexual

kinda makes you think you could have sex with a washer. ;'D--Hey it's Friday Night!! That magnificent and "signature" tower was the very first pic Robert embedded in the very first Aworg thread.

You're a real artist, Rick. Thanks for sharing your Easter Bounty during Lent, since so many of us christianISTS are currently fasting on chocolate Easter Eggs.
Just kidding. My Lenten fasts, when I did them, never lasted more than a few days.

Thanks you guys! I am very happy to have these! Never thought I would see the day...

Rich, I love that 55 dryer! Looks so nice in the light. (and so do you btw) I will have to work on putting some light above this set, to show them more.

Ben, you are right about the "sets" all of my machines have a matching dryer, except for the 56 Kenmore. They really do take up a lot of room, but when I find the dryer, I feel that I should keep it also. Maybe I need "help" lol!!

2-29-2008-22-53-53--rickr.jpg

Robert, I do my laundry on Friday night, so the set is in use as we speak. I used the 56 Kenmore for one load, the 58 Maytag for another load, and did two loads in the 57 Tower Top washer. The only dryer I used tonight was the Filtrator. I just LOVE it! <:
My favourite dryer used to be the Halo of Heat, however it is now the pink Filtrator.

Wow! How cool Rick. It`s so neat to be able to find one of these rare beauties let alone two. You da` man!
