I don't know how you guys didn't find this before I did but I am glad you didn't.
this has been a long search, I found her on craigs pal. in colorado about 3 days after I came home to Fl. from there. She is a KD2P Kitchenaid portable Dishwasher.
I have owned a KD10 and a KD12 in the past and neither cleaned as well as the portable. Has anyone else found this to be true? here are some pics. by the way does Anyone Have a PDF of the owners Manual for this Machine.
Thanks
John

Oh cool!!

I LOVE this machine - it had been a 'dream machine to be found' for me and I found one last year! Yours looks great - all the rack sections are there and you have the mesh detergent cup. Congratulations!!
As for dishwashing performance, I think you will be surprised at how well this machine cleans. It is really simple - a short purge, main wash, then two rinses - and I think it does a great job.
Someone here probably has the manual, but if you have any operational questions (like how to load), just ask!

Aferim!

I've always wanted one of these as well, congratulations! The more I get into these old appliances, the more interested I am in top-loading dishwashers. The portables are the easiest to find and play with. I've also always wanted to find a KitchenAid with the cast iron spray arm. Enjoy it in good health.

your's looks great!

looks very clean on the inside!

i picked one up in buffalo last year myself, i know how excited you are, they are real classics!

and from what hobart told me last month there are about 11 or 12 pump seals still out there should you need one!

enjoy it!

It sure is in a good, clean condition!

Why is the control switch so far down?

Hi John,
It's been a while since our dishwasher exchange...I saw your post and needed to share this story!
Back in 1982 I was transferred to Dallas and had to part with my KD2P like your new toy.
I sold it to my neighbor, who fortunately was into vintage everything.
The transaction was made and I was off to Dallas. I returned to sunny Florida a couple years later.
My neighbor had passed and lost track of the unit. I started collecting a couple years ago and regretted parting with the machine. About 8 months ago I was checking Craiglist, I saw a KD2P......I immediately called and left a message. The woman who called me back said she loved the machine and just wanted something more practical....in our conversation I explained I had one years ago and regretted selling it. She explained she had bought it from a friends partner who had passed. I was truly amazed how I got my KD2P back in almost the same condition..a little more worn than when I
had it....27 years later I have it back again!
I guess the lesson is....wait long enough and things do come back!

Congratulations John, you have some beautiful dishwashers as I remember and this one is perfect to add to your collection.  It's quintessential 50's styling just like the Westinghouse Laundromat.
