I picked up some of the salted Costco mixed nuts today. They are a bit on the salty side. As an experiment I put about a cup in a mesh colander and rinsed them under a spray faucet. The result? Still slightly salty, but much less than before the rinsing. Of course they are a bit damp, but... they will get more damp once I eat them. LOL.

Ditto Jamie!

That’s the way I get the excess salt off of Macadamia nuts Jamie. It works like a charm doesn’t it.

If you rinse the nuts off with water then you should immediately dry them with a paper towel, then place them in a sheet pan in a single layer and place the pan in a 325 to 350 F oven for about 5 to 10 mins to dry them off. And watch them CAREFULLY so as not to burn the nuts. This way you can enjoy the nuts without them being soggy.

But why got thru this when the paper towel trick is so much easier.

BTW, I make a Macadamia Nut Cream Pie that is very delicious. That’s how I learned the paper towel trick for getting the excess salt off of the nuts. I just use the same recipe that I use for Coconut Cream Pie, but substitute chopped Macadamia nuts for the coconut. If you like cream pies and Macadamia nuts give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.

I got a jar of unsalted mixed nuts at the same time I got the regular ones. Unfortunately there are no Brazil or Macadamia nuts in the unsalted product.

The salted nuts did get a little soggy from the rinsing but that didn't bother me, and I only rinsed enough to eat within a few hours. Next time I'll try the paper towel method.
