Got the washer and the dryer....well. Need a new clutch for the washer and now. The dryer has issues. On Auto dry it doesnt completely dry the load even on the dryest setting. On high heat it heats up but does not get the load dry. On Medium heat, if I set it to dry for 70 plus min, it dries the load. So....is it the high limit thermostat? There are supposedly two other thermostats in this unit. Anyone have any past on this?

Fabric softner

I was told by sears that fabric softner sheetz screw with the drying sensor ...get an oily coating on it and can't tell how wet the cloths are

No question is a bad question

Dryer vent is clear, have been inside it and vacuumed out a lot of lint...hehe 20 years worth. It takes a while on timed dry as well.

If the vent is clear, I would check the operation of the main thermostat by checking the drying temps inside the drum. You can do this by putting an electronic temperature sensor probe into the lint filter opening and testing the temps on each setting. I'm not sure what the temps for each setting are for your particular dryer, or if that machine uses an electronic moisture sensore or not, but if the drying temps are off, the result you're getting is one symptom.

I would check the heating elements. GE dryers have two coils and one could be open not allowing the dryer to reach full temp. Although the fact that the timer advances means it must at some point satisfy the thermostat. Also take the front off and check for excessive lint build-up in the blower housing duct.
