Dryer Sheets, Anyone?

Have to admit. I used both for years. Now, next to nothing.

The owner's manual  for my dryer said to never use dryer sheets, so I don't.  Really don't need the fragrance either.

This is really interesting to me, I guess I always assumed everyone used dryer sheets. (Very silly, I know)

Ok, let me ask a different question then. How do you all control static in clothing? We have allergies and asthma in the family, so line drying is a no-go. We use the dryer, but the static is ridiculous in the colder months. I have tried downy free liquid softener in the past, but it wasn't very good for static control.
