Hi All:
Does anyone know where I can get a good dryer vent cap/pipe assembly that is good quality? I broke one this weekend trying to get the lint out.(Cap and pipe separated) The Lowes and Home Depot ones are crap. Any suggestions?

I have a few vents left, both all-aluminum, and aluminum with plastic hood. The best kind of covering is not the hood with one flapper, but the kind that has smaller blades, like a venetian blind. The problem with the single flapper is that lint collects behind the hinge, so the flapper does not close tightly. In the winter, cold air enters, and goes directly onto the motor. The "venetian-blind" type of cover should last forever.

Hi Jon!
Will check out the e-bay hood. How are you?
Blackstone,
the double venetian-blind style is what broke. The connection from the pipe to the plastic housing is what breaks. It's only held in by little dimples on the paper-thin gauge pipe. I know of a nearby apartment complex that has the three style venetian-blind flappers, and they are all plugged with lint and half open. I should think that the double one wouldn't be that bad.

Just a heads up:
I found a great vent cap at Sears. The pipe is riveted to the cap, and it has a very wide opening with good quality plastic. Very reasonably priced at $5.99. Sold!
