Dryers sold in Detroit in 1960

Detroit Edison would install a 220 volt outlet for your dryer if you bought one in 1960. Thought this was a fun listing of brands--Hudson was Hudson's private label, which was the "big kahuna" in the city.

I wonder if electric service companies in other states were doing that.  When I was a kid, our house had to be wired for 220 when my Mom got our first dryer; however, gas was available where it sat in the garage.

When we heavied up from a 60 amp service to 150 amps, the Georgia Power Company would give you a rebate on the heavy up if you purchased a dryer or range. We soon had both and received a refund when we mailed them the sales tickets.
