That portable looks identical to my Grandpa's Maytag dishwasher, loudest thing I've ever heard... I LOVE IT!!!

the maytag looks very similiar to an early 70's general electric unit.

The built in is aug 77 I think
It has the modern wash module not the 2 plate wash module
actually the dishwashers perform the same.
The builtin fills until the float shuts off the water pauses then the motor starts
The portable fills about halfway in the tub but the valve might be faulty as it make a humming sound the built in does not have this hummimg sound
The builtin has a portable fill valve in it
