What the "WC" number stands for on a drain pump? Some of them differ from each other so that's why I was looking to see whether it was a year code or a revision code or what. One Google result was that it could stand for "water column"? If anyone knows by chance and is willing to impart info on this, I'd very much appreciate it.

Thanks,
Steven

More than likely is what WC stands for.

If Whirlpool kept the same designs and parts for 50 years time without making major changes, would be easier to track things down. Maytag literally used the same water pumps from 1964 to 2006.

Since Whirlpool doesn't make the majority of their parts themselves, that could be an indicator from the molding company, that the part is for Whirlpool Corporation. Like earlier stated.
But since that would be for the molding company's own sorting, I'm surprised they put it so close to the WP part number.
Usually molders will put that info in a separate area (if the part's big enough) with their own data, like date code, cavity ID etc.
