Just purchased a Dyson DC-21 Cannister from Tom at the VacShack here in Festus. You wouldn't believe the nasty stuff that came out of the area rugs and floors. This is one amazing machine!

Woohoo!

Mark, glad you finally took the plunge on a new DC21, and I can't think of a better person to buy it from either! I talked to him on the phone this afternoon and he mentioned that you came in and bought one. I have to say, his knowledge of all makes and models of cleaners, not just limited to Dyson, is second to none; it was really his posts on Vacuumland that got me interested in Dysons beginning last fall with the release of the DC17. And, even though DC21s can be ordered online as of now, they won't be hitting the stores "in person" until next month. So you're another one of the lucky few who have bought one a little early and are able to experience what an awesome machine it is!

Mine has sold itself to me many times over. I agree that it's amazing what sort of dirt comes out of the rug, for me it was an ungodly amount of powdery fine dust on the first round, and each time I use it I still manage to pull out a little bit more. If you think that's bad, try it on your mattress after you pull the sheets off. I vacuum my mattress weekly (even before I bought the DC21) and the results were shocking. It is just incredible.

My only complaints are really just the subpar upholstery tool and dusting brush. I was talking to another member on the phone who recently bought one as well, and he mentioned the cord being shorter than most, which it is...only about 17-18' if I remember correctly. I was surprised to find this out as I never really noticed it because the hose is so long.

Keep us posted in a few weeks how it works; I've had it for a little over a month and am still very impressed. I will say that you will become addicted to it soon, if you aren't already. The Filter Queen may wind up gathering dust in the closet shortly!

Hey Austin

I'm already impressed! The cleaning lady came today and used it all over the house for the first time and OMG! There was so much cat hair I thought that maybe she'd sucked one of the cats up there. LOL It was just unbelievable. We're not dirty people by any means but from looking at the canister full of dust and cat hair made me want to toss my cookies.

Tom said something about about a vacuum convention coming up. When is it exactly? Is anyone able to attend or do they have to register to be able to go to it? He said that you were coming up, sure would be great to be able to meet you and some other members from here. I've met Christfr here in St. Louis and he's been down to the house. He and his new "friend" came down one saturday. It was funny because his new "friend" is also our best friends daughter' brother-in-law. What a small world. I should've taken a picture of all the gunk in the canister before i emptied it but didn't want to embarrass myself either. lol Let me know when the vacuum dates are. Hopefully my work schedule would permit me to attend. Or if i'm not able to attend maybe you and Tom could come by my place. Mark

Hi Mark,

I know what you mean about the cleaning ability. You should have seen the bin after I ran it in the back room (which leads to the backyard and gets a LOT of traffic)...nasty! We have a Rainbow which isn't a bad machine, but the Dyson has picked up a lot it has left behind as well.

The VCA vac convention in St. Louis is June 14-17. Seeing as how I have college class on Thursday, I'll be arriving on Friday. That would be great if a separate gathering takes place...I know a visit with Chris is in order! Would be great to see your Frigidaire as well; Tom has told me some colorful stories involving those. LOL
