Here's the pics of the poor A806

The console with worn gold paint and faded buttons. I threaten anyone with their life if they use Spray & Wash or bleach near my good ones!

Yep - August of 1975. I'll need to go back to the doctrine one of these days to confirm the date that they gave the tub light the pink slip. We are seeing a trend here.

Too bad Bobby - that was a beautiful washer in its day!

Ben:
Check the 1976 brochure, before the almond color was introduced. I think the 806 still had a tub light at that point.

TUB LIGHTS!!!!!!!

Bobby & Ben,
WOW, it's really something to see a tub light on a gold panel 806 like this! From what I've read in various threads on the site I was under the impression Maytag stopped the tub light in 1973 - 1974.

Ben, you say this machine (W/tub light) was built in August of '75... well the white A806 I just sold was built (according to Ben) in December 1975 and it did NOT have a tub light! The photo is the ID plate off the 806 I just sold.

VERY INTERESTING!!!

Now the next question is did Maytag put tub lights in ALL 806's until they stopped or was it a random thing?

Hey Kevin - thanks for posting your serial tag! This is very good info. I'll have to check the Let's Talk Service books. I *think* I have most of the 1975 year to see what it says. Maybe they made the change sometime between October and December in '75? Thankfully changes like these were documented in the service lit.

Could it be that the factory used up all the tub covers with light openings so that some of the earlier gold panel 806's had tub lights and some didn't? Geoff Delp, send your help!

Gold Trim

Hi Bobby Just a suggestion... my moms gold was coming off of her dryer and for some reason she had or I had found a gold metallic pen that was a rattle pen that you shook the paint to mix it. It had a fiber tapered end that i used more than once to cover the missing paint and it worked awsum for making them look new again. Not sure if they still around but it might be worth looking into if you to make them look sweet again.
Hope this helps.

Steve

PS I was black with gold lettering if I remember correctly and was about the diameter of a standard Sharpie only longer. Maybe an Art Store would have one
