Found this before Christmas and couldn't resist.
Was at the local Habitat Re-store for $25 and it followed me home.
I just couldn't leave it there.
Model 99K
Serial EJ689904

It's in excellent conditon carrying case and all. Just needed a good cleaning and lube job. Runs very quietly.

I know there are members more knowing of this machine than myself. Perhaps you can share some insight?

What a dandy.  Steele head machines can't be beat and last forever.  Only straight sticcch but does the job of sewing fast.  Good buy for you.

What a Classic

What a beauty! If you have the thread tension adjusted correctly, you will never find another machine that straight stitches as well as the old steel Singers. Another beautiful feature is that they will jump pins almost every time, where as the newer ones trip over the pins, and break the needles. They are great for mending a multiple varieties of fabrics, with out having to change presser feet. Enjoy that classic machine. Happy New Year,
David

No expert here but my gran was a tailor and owned a tailoring shop for years. She used an old black Singer extensively at home as well. Of course I like to play with it. She would oil that machine quite frequently, with Singer Sewing machine oil . If by lubing you mean something else other than sewing machine oil better check first

Thanks guys.

From what I've found so far, this a 3/4 size machine. Not as small and light as a Featherweight but smaller than Mom's full size similar looking cabinet model Singer. She bought hers in 1947. Both still going strong although she doesn't sew anymore.

Yes Pete, I used some Singer oil from Mom's machine.

Certainly no expert here, I can sew a fairly straight line and repair something that has come apart. That's about the extent of my ability.

Found this retro looking twin sheet and will attempt some queen size pillowcases after I get the machine adjusted properly.
