fake woodgrain galor
That Whirlpool compactor has fake wood-grain on the entire top and both sides, so typical of the seventies through mid-eighties. Looks as if Whirlpool had someone standing at the end of the assembly line with a roll of woodgrained shelf-liner contact paper, ha.
I remember General Electric portable color TV's often had the entire cabinet molded in wood-grained look plastic. Looks better on a TV, which sometimes had a real wooden cabinet versus a metal appliance. fortunately, my '84 model GE Filter-Flo set had horrible wood-grained prints on the control panels.
